  Fakefactory's Next Version - What We Know - Mod News

In true Fakefactory style, information on the next Cinematic Mod release is pretty scarce but we do have some tidbits and a bunch of new screenshots!


  • We know the Cinematic Mod is finally being ported to the Orange Box/EP2 engine and is currently in the final stages of testing.
  • We know from Fake that the whole game on the new engine has been played with no crashes after lots of map-entity fixes.
  • We know there's a glitch in the teleport-rings in Kleiner's lab whereby they wont rotate, these may be removed from the mod.
  • We know there will be enhanced pyroeffects and new dynamic lighting in both HL2 and EP1.
  • We know HDR/Bloom will be much more subtle in the next version due to community input that it's currently too much.
  • We know the new Orange Box engine enhanced version will be a completely seperate version of Cinematic Mod because EP1 and EP2 are needed to play. Yes, both needed. This means there will be no upgrade patch.
  • We know Fakefactory is considering a new mod name for this updated version, serious suggestions can be e-mailed to him.
  • We know older Alyx models will be recompiled for the new character pimper however is currently on low-priority.
  • We also know, a 'HD-Alyx-Pure-VALVE-Style' model is planned in the near future. The same for Breen, Barney and Eli however this will take time due to having to re-do all the facial animations etc.


This is all we know from Fakefactory at the moment, we'll keep you updated as more details come through! For now, enjoy the following screenshots released from the new version in your eager wait for HD goodness!
