Day of Defeat: Source Files & Tutorials & Latest Files Changes On Site - Site News

It's been a week since Day of Defeat: Source's release with gamer's still debating as to whether it was a simply a boring port from the original or a whole new fun-filled fresh experience. Steam status shows far more Source players than the original DoD with a margin of around 2,000 players and 1,000 servers. Total player minutes for DoD: Source is 207.090 million/month compared with 173.054 million for DoD 1.0 and earlier. This is a huge difference noting that the Source stats are for 1 week only, with many more players logging in by the minute!

Our very own Day of Defeat: Source files section has also been flourishing with over 120 custom files, and growing everyday, generating a total of over 30,000 downloads, also increasing rapidly! Hence making HL2Files.com the largest and most downloaded DoD: Source file resource. [Just like Half-Life 2 and CS: Source, I might add. wink ]

We've also reached the No.1 spot on the DoD Top 100 toplist and will soon reach the same spot on the DoD Directory toplist. Vote for us!

Onto other news, as some have been playing, some trying to figure out how to fix problems to play, and others creating custom content for all to enjoy, a select few have taken the liberty to write up some tutorials.

Click the links below to be taken to that particular tutorial/guide:-

DoD: Source Key Binding By DarkPenfold.
DoD: Source HUD Customization By Whiskas.
DoD: Source FPS & Lag Guide By El Capitan.

A big thank you goes out to the authors for taking the time to write these for the community. If you know of any other tutorials, please do drop me a line.

Lastly, we are aware that quite a large portion of the community do not really care for DoD: Source and its content either because they do not have the game or are simply uninterested and might be a little annoyed seeing all the DoD files clogging up the 'Latest 50 Files' on the homepage. Hence, we're working on splitting up that particular box into 3 boxes. One for Half-Life 2 [and the odd Half-Life 1 files], one will be for CS: Source [and the rare CS 1.6 / CS: CZ files] and finally one for Day of Defeat: Source. The limit will be reduced to 30 files each and this way we will be able to cater for all the community's needs more efficiently. smile

Happy Fragging! Pimp!

I'd rather just have the option to hide files for certain games.

When posting comments, you must follow these rules:
  1. No "Yay I got First Post!" posts, no exceptions and no matter what other content the post has!
  2. No Pornographic Material. Any sexually oriented imagery or links to such content will not be tolerated.
  3. No Warez or Illegal Software. This includes linking to software, posting about it, and suggesting to get it.
  4. No Cursing or Swear words. We encourage you to use our comment sections as a forum to debate files, news, etc., but please use proper adjectives to express yourself. We will not tolerate abuse upon another member or author.
  5. No Attacks / Retaliation of any kind against a member, or group of members.
  6. Please do not advertise for other sites or forums here.
  7. Maximum of 3 smileys per regular member.
The high interactivity of this site should be considered a luxury, not a right. If you cannot follow these simple rules, you can and will be warned or banned from the comments, site or the entire network for any period of time.
Now enjoy yourself and behave!
