Portal: Facility Advanced Map (Beta 01.02) - File Description  


Description:
This map has been under construction ever since the Original Facility was released, but the author has not been working non-stop on this map. He has been working slowly on this in order to keep my mind fresh as well as the obstacles different every time. The map has been modified to the max where basically everything has been changed in order to keep the map harder than the original but if you have played the original then you should have a rough idea of what you should be expecting in the next obstacle.

This map is in beta so everyone is welcome to suggest changes for all obstacles as well as lighting/effects/sounds and so on, the map has very little atmosphere which i realize; that will be one of the last things to do on the map

PS: This map IS POSSIBLE! The author can complete this without any cheats.

Q: When i load the map everything comes out pink, what do i do?
A: Alt-tab out of the game and go back in, then the pink should be ok.

Q: The above answer did not remove the pink from the map, what should i do?
A: Go into console (~) and type in buildcubemaps, a few images of the map will flash then the game will RESTART and the pink should be removed.

Q: I want some help with making maps for Portal, but i am unsure of how to get started or do what i want; can you help me?
A: Go to www.thinkingwithportals.com and they will answer your questions.

Q: I am having trouble figuring out some of these obstacles, can you please show/tell me how to complete some of these?

Q: If the screenshots you have a different turret texture than the original, where did you get that skin from?
A: I made the model for the Portal movie that i as going to make but i abandoned the movie and decided to keep the skin.

I think you should add a hint or two at the beginning as to what your initial goal is supposed to be. I was able to get 1/2 of the portal gun, but after that, I just couldn't tell what you wanted from me.
A few judiciously placed signs (either official aperture science ones or the good old fashioned "Over here!" scrawled in blood) should do the trick.


When posting comments, you must follow these rules:
