This is a really cool map by Hen it is based in a really spooky house I like the total making of the map nice work.

Welcome to the Nightmare House.
[ Instatllion Guide ]
Unzip the files using a program such as WinZip (www.winzip.com) or WinRAR (www.rarlabs.com) and extract the files to your Half-Life 2 folder (found within Steam/Steamapps/YOUREMAIL@YOURPROVIDER.COM). Once extracted start up Half-Life 2, and open the console (to open the console create a shortcut to Half-Life 2 on the desktop, right click it, go to properties, and add -console to the command line) and type "map nightmare_house1". Then set back and enjoy the map.
Be sure to play in the dark for added terror because this map is really scary!
The map is not so long so try not to rush,investigate things (there is one easter egg too)
Be sure to play the map on HARD level, its not so hard when you play it on easy.

its quite good lots of thing jumping out at you you could do with using nodraw texture on the textures you cant see it would make the map much smoother on low end machines

Easily the best SP map for HL2 so far.
Playing through this reminded me of the atmosphere while playing through F.E.A.R. Scared me to death just about every single time things jumped out at me, because they were all cleverly placed.
The stalker appearing and dissappearing near the end got repetitive though... Freindly note: Frightening someone isnt about how many times you can do one scare, is about how many unique individual scares there are. The stalker thing nearly made me crap my heart out the first time it happened, but the 3 times after that didnt scare me at all, because I was expecting them.
Everything else was very very very good though, and as I said, its IMO the best SP map for HL2 since its release. I hope to see more maps from you soon, hopefully maps like this.

Nice map though, if a little short. Most unsettling.
10 out of 10. This map is very, very good. My only two complaints if you can even call them that is
1 - You seem to lack ammunition when playing it on Hard.
2 - At one point, a zombie seemed to disappear when it crawled through a vent or something to attack, then reappeared when the animation was finished.
3 - mostly what n00binator said. Personally, I think the stalker should only be shown 3 times throughout all the levels. At the end, in the hallway, and... well, surprise me.
his car broke down so he ignored the fact that the door has blood smeared accross it ^^ Looks good i think ill download it.

Das Roboss was/is the best SP out there.
Ok that was f'ing scary, exept the stalker part should have only been twice, the first one and the last one. too bad you couldnt have had the little girl flash instead, though. that made my heart start pounding so hard i could lterally hear it!
scary  my house was pounding and my lights were also off and its night....damn nice map make more now gj u guys this is far the best map ever make me even scareder by making a different one !!

I loved it, maybe this should become a full blown mod!
there's no reason to make this a mod, it is probably the best hl2 sp map series out there but making it into a mod would be pointless (however if you have a really good idea Hen please make me eat those words)
OMG..!! so far, this is the best "zombie map pack" for Half-Life 2... the BEST !! It's so scary that I had to turn on the lights after playing it
It certainly reminds me of a great HL1 classic: "They Hunger".
It was about time to have a good "zombie related map" for HL2 I give this 10/10.

this is a pretty good map! it has a creepy atmosphere through and thorugh, although i wasn't scared easily (except at the very end!)
the bit with the jumping beds was pretty cool. The best bit for me was probably when i went down a corridor and thought "ah, this will load the next level, obviously!" and i went right up to the door and BLAM a zombie burst though!
Sup guys its me Hen (the creator) i really want to thank you all for your responses, im reading every one of them and it really make me smile 
About make it a mod, it really will be pointless so lets just stay with the MAP PACK.
BTW im now thinking about a second MAP PACK (i don't know if it will be scary)
And more BTW, my friend VASH (the one who helped me) want to make Nightmare House 2.

Good atmosphere, good use of audio and scripting. No crasches nor performance problems...solid work. One problem though, it's a bit too short.
Very good map. Just were is the easter egg?
Also, some hints about the plot.
This map gives you golden luxury road to a good mod team.
Use that out sometime.

kameleon21 - Your email address you used to register Steam. Go into your Steam folder (typically C:/Program Files/Valve/Steam) and go into "Steamapps". You should see a folder with your Steam name (or email address) and go into it. Then, go into the folder labeled "half-life 2", then "hl2", then go into the "maps" folder. Open up the Nightmare House rar (can be opened using Winzip or WinRAR) and extract the .bsp files into the /maps folder that is open. Now, you have the maps installed.
Make sure you have console for Half-Life 2. To enable console right click the Half-Life 2 tab on the Steam Games list and hit properties. Go to "Launch Options" and add -console to the line. Now hit OK and startup Half-Life 2. You'll be greeted by a new window (which is the console), and at this window type in "map nightmare_house1" (without the quotes). Viola, you are playing Nightmare House, enjoy yourself!
by far the best sp map yet, very nice scripted events and very scary, it took me a few tries before i figured i was supposed to run for the car..........heh, yeah btw what was the easter egg, i didnt notice one
alot of people asking me what is the easter egg, here is a clue: search in the attic, you need to break stuff.
AWESOME, wheres the easter egg, and it took me a while to find out i needed to pick up the baby to get that wall to open. i almost shat myself at the end when the white guy appeared right as you got to the car.
i found the easter egg my second time playing this, come on people it's easy to find. You watch a lot of horror movies don't you hen
People compare this to fear...omg this has gotta be good.You gotta make a second 1,that'd be great. Keep up the good work and uhh P.S. you can put this on gmod if u want and play it multiplayer!

that was scaryer then doom3 all mashed into one little level. Amazing you better put that on your resume.

Hey all, Vash here, and I'm just posting one last time to let you all know that I will be working on the sequel to Nightmare House. During the process of helping Hen with NH I had a few ideas that didn't make it in either due to time restrictions or we just didn't really know how to go about it. Well, once Hen finished up Nightmare House I asked him if he would be doing a sequel and he said that "no, I want to move on to something new". I asked him if I could do the sequel and he happily agreed, so this isn't the end of the NH chronicles. If you have any ideas that you would like to see in NH2, or any problems you'd like to see addressed shoot me an email at vashtld@gmail.com

ok, so ive been reading this for a bit not trying to see what teh atmosphere is all about. I dont play most games during the day. And this is definately looking like it's going to be one of those games. But i cant help but notice that everybody is giving away spoilers. like *SPOILERS* the stalker at the end of teh map, and how something pops up a couple of times. 3 or 4. Don't say things like that. I havent played the game and I already know about that stuff. It suonds good but keep the spoilers to yourself or makr them clearly. Thanks

This is a really good map . On the second time i played it , i placed the files in gmod folder and it's still a great map when you play it with a friend or two 
OMG IM NOT GONNA DWL THIS MAP OR PLAY IT!!!! IM SCARED!!! I JUST SAW 3 HORROR MOVIES STRAIGHT IN A ROW!!! IM AFRAID THAT I WONT BE ABLE SLEEP IF I PLAY THIS MAP!!!
cool map. I had to register just to respond  .Oh well very good map. The last part was CRAZY COOL it was so friggin scray i crapped out my spleen. But then it got repetitive. Still,

Seriously, this map made me scream like a little girl. Speaking of little girls...FEAR, *shivers*. I swear if you turned that stalker into a "the Ring" type girl or something I wouldnt sleep for a week straight.

the headcrabs were a bit annoying for me... but great map overall
i think in nh2 you should make real zombie characters cus i hate seing half life stuff out of the game. this isnt' war of the worlds its like night of the living dead. make some cool looking zombies and leave the headcrabs in HL. btw i realy didn't see the point of a TV as the easter egg. but once again, grat map
This was amazing. The crow and the stalker nearly made me drop a load in my pants. One thing though, I could see the shadows of zombie's through some of the doors, but all that did was scare me out of opening up stuff and picking up objects! Great map, if you guys make another one, please make it scary! 10/10, short but sweet. Is there a way to use the screaming speed zombies even without having them show up? That would be awesome, their cries scare the hell out of me. Good show Hen and Vash!
how weird, when i load it up, it flashes AI_disable. i tried "ai_resume" but that doesnt work. grr. i see the zombie out of nowhere but he just stands..

DUDE....DUDE....DUDE the stalker part reminded me of F.E.A.R. in the hallway, this map was great, like i dont really get scared, i get thrilled and i cant stop saying aww that was good...that was good :O, holly crap man...what a blast....wow, i want more man more. BTW im Chris Redfield [S.T.A.R.S.] from the [S.T.A.R.S.] clan, just sayin for the hell of it
is it me that can't play, or is the levelchange trigger in map2 to 3 missing. i have looked all around in the endroom of map2 but nothing happens. i stand in front of that big wooden 'door', have smashed all chairs and tables what else is there, have walked severel times forwards and backwards, nothing. please can someone tell me where to go.
for the mapping part, i like the idear. also did the maker make good use of all the trigger sorts that there are in hammer. because i'm pretty sure that almost every event is doen by a trigger of some sort, of by a setting given to an entitie. only the zombie that lays on the ground and comes up is done with a little bit of scripting.
the textures could be much better, on the walls are floor textures and most textures are not placed right, there to low or high. don't get me wrong, i also use sometimes floor textures for walls, etc. but he did use floortextures that are only can be used on floors. still, liked it, although he good easely made these 4 maps in 2. there so short that every map just can be played for 2 or 3 minutes. especialy the first one. why go to the next level when the first was is just so small?
overall i like the effort, only would like to see how to go to map3. manualy starting map 3 is no option. because i loose my suit and weapons, so i can't break the glass in the first room of map3, to get to the shotgun.

Yeah this is far by the scariest map i've played so far. And its as scary as Doom 3 IMO! I did get quite a few jumps. Especially the stalker part, i just sprinted down the hall way and suddenly saw a stalker. Really great job, hope to see more in Nightmare House 2

I got stuck in the part where it says you need a key for openning a door. It's on the second map. Anyone know where to go?
It's in the closet. point at the key on the shelf and press E or whatever your "use" key is.
Yeah, I waited all week to play this, (can't play on the weekdays ) and then finally on Friday I come home to find that the god forsaken VALVe update prevents me from doing ANYTHING! Oh well, maybe next week....
#56 when u start a level via the console u start with now weaps and suit right? The thing is called "impulse 101" it gives you a suit and all the weapons. Yeah, if only there was a way to only get the suit or only some weaps cause all can be annoying.
Loved the stalkers appearing!!!!!! My friend was playing and he fell out of his chair.
