Half-Life 2 SP Moose Mod Techinal Demo Map - File Description  


Description:
This is a very high detailed map made by Scott Galloway (also known as moose o death). only four textures are HL2 textures the rest are custom made. The four hl2 textures are the concrete, metal ceiling, glass and slime. Apart from those the rest are custom, this map however is not a general gameplay map since it does not contains any enemies, no path nodes for enemies, and is purely designed with training level mentality.

ok, i'm back, here's map i threw together this weekend, no enemies, no real purpose other

you may notice some similarities to an old game, that's all it is.

installation: unzip the file - if your reading this you got that far yourself
copy "DXentry.bsp" into your maps folder in HL2
copy the "DX" file into your materials folder in HL2

to play: open "half life 2" and open the console, you may need to enable the console by visiting
control settings and then selecting advanced options.
once the console is open, type "map dxentry" without the quote marks.
press enter and your playing in about twenty seconds.

this map isn't meant to be for general gameplay, and as such doesn't contain ANY AI.

if you get stuck at any point, try picking up things in the area, breaking crates, when you pass the weapon
strip leave the weapon, it will only make life harder for you if you pick it up and continue to break things.
also try pressing buttons, there's only two

oh and remember your torch ;)

this is a very nice map when you get the chance you shuold try making a map like this with enemys in it and it will be a hit.

i'm still tuning the lighting system and improving the textures for this one, the opening room now has an amazing light for the front door. and all the textures now have the correct material properties (so the metal grating doesn't sound like a concrete floor)

if you want to fix dssteel.vmt so it isn't so bright, open the dx file and edit dssteel so the line "$envmaptint" "[.1 .1 .1]" i forgot what it's exact problem with that line was, it may have been the $.

V. good textures. Perhaps maps like these are an
opportunity to throw together some new ideas too?
you know.. machinery, contraptions.. al sorts of stuff
can be done with HL2's physics engine.

i had a cs:s map with a full working gyroscope, the map was too small though. i'd still have these things if steam would stop randomely dying. i might reconstruct that thing though, it was cool as hell.
