This is the first chapter in a series of upcoming Half-life 2 single player map packs by Tranced_Psycho called "Day of Redemption". There are also some screenshots in the download of the next chapter in progress. See below for a description.
Well worth the download and play-through.
Looking forward to the next chapter!
Quote:The first chapter for the Day of Redemption series, is at last finished! It's been a long, and sometimes strenuous, journey. But with some serious dedication and late nights, I managed to pull everything togheter, and finnaly end up with a product. A product which I hope will have a good quality and offer some great gameplay.
(If you'll download the game, please read the provided readme file! It's a bit long, but I've written important information!)
The second chapter is currently under construction, and by downloading the first chapter, you'll get some early screenshots!
Story:
After three months of civil war, the Combine Forces togheter with the Civil Protection controls City-17 once again.
They now rule the city with an iron hand, crushing everyone who opposes them. Only a few citizens has yet the courage to confront them.
You are one of them...
During five days, your hidden outpost has been succesively cleared out of rebels, due to the high amount of Civil Protection in that area.
You are the last one remaining... You must find a way to both regroup with your friends, and free City-17 from the tyranny.
This is the day of redemption!
See the readme below for installation instructions and more information.

CREDITS:
I would like to give a special thanks to marnamai, who has been testing the maps and helped me throughout the building process.
Also a thanks to Joseph T for testing the first map!
A huge(!) thanks to Robin "Hona", for the keycard models and general suggestions! Thank you guys!
Also a thanks to the people at the Interlopers forum.
I've placed the four .bsp-files inside the "maps" folder.
Unzip the files in: C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\"your-account-name"\half-life 2\hl2\maps
Choreographed scenes:
It didn't work including the choreographed scenes, so you have to unzip the folder called "dor_scenes", in:
C:\Program\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\"your-account-name"\half-life 2\hl2\scenes
Everything else, like the custom textures, the models, etc, have been included in their respectively .bsp-file, by using Pakrat.
(Just to make things a bit easier for you!)
HOW TO PLAY:
Start Half Life 2 and open the console by pressing the ~ key.
Type in the console: map day_of_redemption_01
Press ENTER
If you aren't able to open the console by pressing the ~ key, then do the following things:
Open Steam, go to My games and select Half-Life 2. Press the Properties button, which is located in the lower right corner.
A dialog box will appear. Press the General tab and then press the Set launch options button. A new dialog box will appear.
Write -console and press OK.
Restart Half Life 2, if the game was already running. When the menu has finished being loaded, the console will appear on its own.
This will happen everytime you play Half Life 2, until you erase the line you wrote earlier in the Launch Options.
To download textures, sounds, etc, visit the websites above.
You are able to start at any level you want. If your favorite map is map three, then just type day_of_redemption_03 in the console and press ENTER,
and you will start at that level, with the suit, some ammo and weapons!
If you experience a lot of lag, I suggest you lower your performance settings. (The maps are optimized, but they still require some computer-power).
I didn't design the maps for any specific difficulty level, but I suggest you start playing them on Hard.
These maps are my first maps I've released to the public, so I hope you'll enjoy playing them, and stay tuned for the second chapter!
(Look inside the 'extra' folder).
After you've completed the game, feel free to send comments to me personally, or you can write your comments at http://halflife2.filefront.com,
or at http://www.interlopers.net/forum if you're a member there. (I've created a thread called DoR - Chapter1 (SP), under the "Complete Maps" section).
You MAY freely distribute Day of Redemption - Chapter 1 electronically. As long as you contact me first, and include the original zip file,
including this readme-file, intact in the original archive!
BUGS:
You might experience some odd things with the keycard models if you step on them. The game won't crash, but the card will jump around on it's own.
So I addvise you to NOT step on them... which you now, probably will do anyway... so it's your own fault!
ENJOY MY GAME!!
