| Half-Life 2: EP2 Do Not Disturb Mod ((V1-beta)) - File Description |
 |
Description:
"Do Not Disturb" is an all custom made single player chapter (or mission) spanning two levels. The player once again becomes Gordon Freeman who, along with a group of rebels, is using an abandoned hotel as a hideout and temporary base of operations.
The game begins when Gordon is notified that they were found and the hotel is being assaulted by metrocops.
The goal is to get away, or more simply put: survive.
One special feature of this mission is a part in a park area with stealth gameplay. You can hide and sneak through the bushes and the patrolling combine soldiers will have a hard time finding you.

Bonus Mission/Chapter for 'Half Life 2 - Episode 2'
(singleplayer)
-------------------------------------------------------------
(1) Installation:
-Simply:
Using WinZip simply unzip all files into your "..SteamSteamApps*USERNAME*half-life 2 episode two" folder.
Make sure you have "use folder names" checked in the extract window in WinZip
-Or:
If your zip program doesn't support 'using paths' or if you ain't sure, unzip all files into a temporary folder then drag them into the appropriate game folders like this:
the *.BSP files into:
..SteamSteamApps*USERNAME*half-life 2 episode twoep2maps
sadfrank.txt and sadfrank.vfe into:
..SteamSteamApps*USERNAME*half-life 2 episode twoep2expressionsflips
scenes.image into:
..SteamSteamAppsfliphazhalf-life 2 episode twoep2scenes
doveman 1-3 vcd files into:
..SteamSteamAppsfliphazhalf-life 2 episode twoep2scenesflips
(you might need to create some of those folders if you do it this way)
If you are being asked to overwrite "scenes.image" i recommmend creating a backup of your old file before doing so.
The scenes are not essential for this mission however, so if you rather keep your old "scenes.image" file (if you have one) it's not a problem.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
(2) Launching the Mission:
Launch "Half-Life 2: Episode Two" ,type the following in the console: "map dndA1" (without quotes) and hit enter.
If you ain't sure how to enable the console:
In Steam right click "Half-Life 2: Episode Two" , select properties, press "launch options", and enter "-console " into the field (without quotes). The console will be there once ep2 has loaded.
To other mappers and modders:
I strongly recommend to disable dev mode before playing.

One special feature of this mission is the part in the park area with stealth gameplay. You can hide and sneak through the bushes and the patrolling soldiers will have a hard time finding you.
There is also a part where you need to refuel a car. In order to do so simply take a gas canister with you and drop it in the vicinity of the car (or on top of the car if you want to make sure)
And one additional hint:
-You can slightly alter your direction in long jumps by using the movement keys

Joseph_Merrick From: (Stratford) Joined: September 25th, 2005 Posts: 256 | This is very interesting -- it looks like the mapper has good skill with architecture, but bad at texturing. A weird mix! |
TKJonny From: Joined: September 3rd, 2005 Posts: 21 | the map is great especially as mentioned before the believable architecture.
i there were no textures which were bad, they all fit into the sourrounding.
the atmosphere was bretty good because of the music or soundeffects.
my only problem was, that I had problems with playing it the first time because you have no weapon or few ammo.
one point which was disturbing, too was the light. you can not see anything without your flashlight sometimes. that sucks!
so, my suggestion: go on mapping but please: add a bit more light... |
themanclaw From: (CA) Joined: September 19th, 2006 Posts: 281 | What really stands out to me about these maps is the skybox/background. Architexture also looks good.
But I have to agree, texturing looks bad. |
specta Joined: April 26th, 2008 Posts: 1 | played it, loved it!
graphics look pretty polished overall, textures are all good IMO.
1st level was pretty tough without a gun and all, but fun anyway
loved the part where the Metrocop missed the pool in the second level!
that stealth stuff was pretty cool too |
