Description: Cinematic Mod's anticipated port to the Orangebox Engine is here! Bear in mind this Beta 1 of V8.0 are there will be some known and unknown issues as depicted below. If you would rather wait for the complete version, that will available as soon as everything is polished out.
THIS VERSION BRINGS THE ORANGEBOX ENGINE TO OLD HL2 AND EP1. IT INSTALLS INDEPENDENT FROM CM7 OR OLDER VERSIONS. TO PLAY THIS MOD, YOU MUST OWN HALF-LIFE 2 / EPISODE ONE / EPISODE TWO FULLY INSTALLED AND UNLOCKED (= started at least one time)! YOU CANNOT PLAY THIS MOD WITHOUT EPISODE TWO CONTENT!
Please note this download is 5.53 GB in size and is split up into 6 .rar files for convenience & easier downloading.

Features:
- Updated engine to the Orangebox for improved graphics and gameplay

The following issues are known and currently unfixed in V8.0 Beta 1:
- At the first teleport-sequence out of Kleiners Lab, during the "visit" at Breens office: Breen cannot stand up
- The teleport rings at Kleiners Lab are not rotating & have been disabled completely as a temporary workaround
- The Valve-Alyx/HD-Body hybrid model is far from finished
- The CM7 and older models aren't included
- New dynamic shadows are disabled by default on some systems
- Remember to set the shadow settings to high for activating the new effects.
- The new Valve-style Mossman/Eli/Breen/Barney HD-models aren't included, because they are too far from a usable stage.

HOW TO INSTALL:
Unpack FAKEFACTORY_CM8.part1.rar with Winrar after you have all 6 parts downloaded to the same location.
WinRar will unpack the following parts 2-6 automatically. Start the installation with setup.exe.
DON'T UNPACK THE ZIP-FILES IN INSTALLER FILES FOLDER.
SETUP.EXE WILL DO THIS FOR YOU.

HDR for HL2
-------------------------------------------------
Not all HL2 maps are true HDR, because not all sources are available. For all other maps i used a technique, that i call "Entity injection". Technically i've used clientcommand entities and tonemapcontrollers to achieve a hdr-like type of blooming on those maps. This type of bloom is much more realistic than the old bloom mini-mod, because the effect is controllable inside the map for different settings at certain locations. You can call it HDR V0.5 or Bloom V2. Its some kind of super-ehanced bloom that gives a near-HDR look on the old HL2 maps. Some of the map-settings aren't final (i'm still at the fine-tuning phase)
CHARACTER PIMPER:

You can use the "Character Pimper" to switch between HD models andoriginal VALVE models.
The Alyx HD-model was built from scratch, all other models are based on massive modified POSER7 models and compiled with a rewritten studiocompiler, that is allowing a much higher polycount than VALVE's original compiler. The facial animations were build with 3DS MAX and exported with Cannonfodders VTA -exporter.
USING OLD CM6.x Alyx Hires models in this version
--------------------------------------------------
The V8 Alyx models are completely reworked with enhanced skeletton and facial animations. The older CM6 models are not longer used. If you want the older models from your CM6 installation, make a copy of the CM6-Characterpimper "repository" folder and the CM6 "hl2\materials\models\Adriana" folder before you uninstall it.
After installation of CM8 is completed, you can copy the old content to the V8 directory, BUT DON'T OVERWRITE V8 FILES! I strongly recommend to use the new CM8 models. They are optimized for the Orangebox engine. I will release recompiled V6 models as a update-patch in the near future.
SOUND DROPS OR CRACKLING:

If sound crackles occures, you can fix this by setting the snd_mixahead value in the autoexec's of CM's subdirectories. You will find the autoexec.cfg in the
FAKEFACTORY_CM8\hl2\cfg
FAKEFACTORY_CM8\episodic\cfg
FAKEFACTORY_CM8\ep2\cfg
directories. Try different value like snd_mixahead "0.2" or snd_mixahead "0.4" for increasing the buffered time of soundsamples. This will fix crackling or dropouts, but can lead to slightly asynchronous or delayed sounds.
MICROSTUTTER AND HEAPSIZE
--------------------------------------------------
If you encounter microstuttering ingame (animations), try the heapsize command.
Add -heapsize {bytes} to the shortcuts, i.e.:
Shortcut: Cinematic Mod EP2
Target: "....\Launcher_EP2.exe" -heapsize 512000.
But NEVER set the heapsize above [YOUR INSTALLE RAM / 3] or 512MB
SETUP.EXE AND VIRUS-WARNING

Setup uses a tool called SetACL for setting write permissions to the mods screenshots / cfg / SAVE directories. Some antivirus software could warn about possible malware. This is a false positive.
TECHNICAL INFO:

Thi mod's binaries are modified for memory allocation beyond 2 GB. To prevent STEAM from overwriting this binaries with its own copies on each start, the mod ist using a little launcher, that reroutes STEAM's original binaries to >NIL.
Start this mod only with the shortcuts in your start menu (that were created during installation)!
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- DX9 capable graphics hardware with minimum 256 MB VRAM. (512 MB recommended)
- 3 GB RAM (4 GB recommended)
SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS:
- Fully installed STEAM Client; You can't start the mod without STEAM running.
- Fully installed and unlocked HL2 / EP1 / EP2; Make shure, you have started those games in the past.
32 BIT WARNING:
--------------------------------------------------
This mod was developed and tested on 64 Bit Windows. It is NOT supported on 32 Bit Windows, because of the limited Userspace with 32 Bit systems. You can try it on 32 Bit, but prepare for crashes.
On some 32 Bit systems it is possible to overcome this limitation with some boot.ini switches for raising the userspace limit. I'm not going into detail here, because those tweaks are dangerous and should only
be done by people, who are knowing exactly, what they do.
ADDENTUM FOR VERSION 7 and 8:
V7 of this mod uses much more Hires textures than the previous versions. This means: The engine has to cache a peak-value of >2GB texturedata at runtime. It's almost impossible to play this mod crash-free on 32 Bit systems
without lowering the graphics settings.

Will drop feedback when tested a little 
All i can say is "wow". That, and you have way too much time on your hands FakeFactory! It seems like just a few weeks ago that I got version 7. I have one question though, should I wait for the official release of version 8, or should i just get this beta now. In other words, are any bugs going to be fixed with patches/hotfixes, or are you going to release the complete and final version of this beta later?

Eruan: Fakefactory usually releases new full installers as opposed to patches. However, he may choose to release a patch if it's easier since the engine will be the same etc... If downloading large files poses a problem, then I would suggest waiting for the full release soon.

The detail on Alyx's face on the last screenshot scares me... you can see every one of her eyelashes! I am scared of mistaking the game for real life, and cannot play it anyway as I only have 2gb of ram, 128mb mobility radeon X1300, 32-bit xp and no disk space on a pata drive. To think my system was one of the state of the art new dual-core laptops 1.5 years ago and now it is this.
If you want to use the 32-bit userspace hack, search about how to apply the /pae (Physical Address Extension) on google to get more than 2.8gb of installable ram on a 32bit system (by effectively changing it to 36bit!)
Curious why this "demands" HL2 EP2, not that i'm complaining since i have it, but the Orange Box SDK base is out, so why demand EP2?

I got this weird bug when i push advanced settings... it just freezes and i can't go into it... It's as soon as i push advanced.
The sound is there but i can't do anything but to push "control alt delete"

I am a fan of your work. I really am. But why do you constantly attack Facepunch members? Whenever you release something, there will always be those who criticize and do not like. You don't have to constantly ***** about those who aren't fond of your work.
Otherwise, this new mod looks promising. I do know that the new models are optional, but can you please release a version of the mod WITHOUT the new models included? That way it would be a speedy and compact alternative to those who do not want the new models.

The facepunchers don't like this mod, that's their principle, and they don't bother changing their opinion.
But some of them also cannot stop *****ing about this mod, so Fake does nothing but respond in an appropriate way.
So if you don't like it, state your opinion but don't expect Fake to change something only to please you.
is all the original valve models HD remade? or just Alyx?

Downloaded last night and just had a first look at HL2. New HDR is a definite improvement - this time it's there but you only notice it when you look for it - in CM7 it was too much in your face. Difficulty level seems to have been lowered (unless I'm so used to playing through Fake's different mods now). Blinding flashes by 'camera droids' seem more pronounced - like it.
Running on 32 bit Vista with everything maxed and no crashes yet using bcd and the set increaseuserva command.
good job Fake - looking forward to some new models.
!TO THOSE ON 32-BIT SYSTEMS! You can still use this mod! Just realize you may have to turn down either shader detail, or texture detail, or both. That's how I have been running this mod. I am unsure if turning down texture detail by one or two levels reverts to default hl2 textures, but certain unique textures that fakefactory added still show up (such as the various pictures of alyx, the pictures of breen, and other posters) so turning down shader and texture detail shouldn't hurt anything but the appearance and no more crashing. Also, turning down shader and texture detail have no effect on the new models if you choose to use them, so no worries there. (side note, this mod adds so much more than just high-res textures and models, and there is much new content, so even with reduced shader and texture detail, there is much to get out of this mod)
(azzkiker, it is not a problem for me to download them, I just don't want to download them, install them, play around with the new content for a few days, then have to turn around and download and install a whole new set)
1st off, the move to the orange box has been worth it. I love the new shadows, motion blur and it even resolves the lighting problems from CM7. Great work Fake.
While I know this is only a beta, I thought I should metion some bugs I've come across (up to Black Mesa East, which is where I've got so so far).
In Water Hazard, the bit where you have to use blue barrels to float the ramp higher. When you go under water and look up, you get a weird reflection that is very confusing.
Also in Water Hazard, the first lock that you come to and you have to go though the garage with the two APC's, then blow up the barrels, which in turn release the steel, which then smashes the door down. OK so far....
then as you shoot your way out, the last doorway you come to to exit onto the outside walkway, there is an invisible obstruction on one side, which prevents you from getting out. I had to noclip to carry on.
At the second lock, when you go in through the padlocked door, through the next door, and go up the steps (killing the CP at the top). As you look to the left , there is a stack of boxes. Break all but the top box for a levitating box.
Now for some comments. I like the Alyx versions - great detail. But I prefere the VALIX from CM7 (don't know if you plan to do a CM8 version of this one with the push up bra?). N.B. I've just realised the HD Valve Alyx is missing eye lashes (but this is only a beta).
Like the green cap one of the City17 residents was wearing - would like to see more hats and glasses.

FakeFactory, ever since V6 when you started saying that 64-bit is superior, I still have yet to see this game actually running in 64-bit. I have 64-bit Vista, in runs great, but it's obviously not 64-bit since Task Manager says hl2.exe *32
kickass331, from what little I know about 32-bit and 64-bit; the recommendations for using 64-bit with this mod are because such systems can handle the high-res textures without crashing periodically, which happens to me unless i lower the settings.
@DjBase, what are your specs? I don't think Fake went over the difficulties of running these more recent versions of the mod.
@Fake, I'm at Black Mesa East and progressing well. This time around I'm writing down things as I get through the game to remember them later.
For a first impression, things are going really well. Some of the color tone things I mentioned earlier, which sometimes seem more color corrections than HDR, are slowly being fixed. For example, the color tone in Water Hazard for the most part is really good. It has a nice blend of a sunset, purple, warmish color. It was really nice to look at.
As for the opening parts of the game, chapters 1-3, continue to work on your colors. I found some parts of the tenements to be a bit more dark due to the HDR, and that was really nice. I think a nice road to follow for while being in City 17 would be to make everything more dark from the Combine and Citadel presence. I mean, this is YOUR mod, so the choice is really yours. I just mean to throw this idea up against the wall for you to observe.
Of course, I don't really know how much of this is within your tweaking and moddifying grasp. Maybe making these color tone changes can't be done. If so, let me know and I'll be sure to note it for future references.
Yeap, I managed it!
In Water Hazard, the bit where you dive under a bridge, and the ground is a bit slippery, thus you use explosive barrels to frag lots of barnicals.
At the mement I blew the barrel up, the game froze. When I tried Ctrl+Alt+Del, it just went to BSOD, and even hung on that
I think there was not enough memory to perform mass killings all at once (since I have everything maxed out at 1680x1050, and have 4GB on WinXP 64.
Suprisingly, CM8 has been running smother than pervious releases (and I can even turn on the HD civ's without pauses).
By the way, I put CM7 VALIX in - She's just hot!
I hope i'm not the only one experiencing this bug...
In EP1 from the begining of the "urban flight" chapter, everything lose gravity and flyes around ?
Please somebody try to test and tell me i'm not the only one with this weird bug

The other bug with my settings is fixed, it was because i used an old config file.
Tryed reloading a tottaly new start from urban flight chapter a few times and now it seems so be gone. I don't know what's going on 
Sounds like a bit like a bug I experienced in CM7 - Alyx was talking to dog (about calculations) and for some reason, she was not leaning on dog, but just stood there, and the scripted sequence seemed broken at the end of the conversision.
Reload and everything was fine.
During the 1st Gunship battle on Highway 17, the game consistently freezes when you deal the final killer blow. Does anyone else experience this??
Nice job -as always-, but my zombie complain stands still. I know, i could use the original Z models, but a valve-quality model would look extremely awkward in this far more detailed enviroment. If you could include an alternate high quality version of the original-style classic Z, it would be great. Still, this is only a minor drawback, your work is still great.

This means nothing if the game runs in 32-bit, it runs very smooth for me, Cinematic Mod Always has, at 1920x1200 with 8xCSAA, but I think that Texture Memory would go under VRAM, I have an 8800 Ultra which has 768 MB, but Half-Life 2's Heap Size is nowhere near 2 GB so I have no idea why you need a 64-bit OS to run this, as it clearly runs in 32-bit. I sort of feel bad about how useless having 64-bit is, as my 4GB of RAM gets wasted due to the world's hatred of spending money on a good computer. I hate 32-bit.
It was my impression that FakeFactory's CM had a 'birthday suit' version of Alyx. I can't seem to find and no one ont the net will simply tell me where this is or how to use it. I have the Orange box edition of HL2 and CM7.0

Because the only games I have that is qualified as Orange Box is Team Fortress 2. Besides that I have Half-Life 2 and thats it.
So do I have to get BOTH Episode 1 and 2, or just Episode 2 and I'm set.

Well when you say I need Episode 1 to play Episode 1, I was trying to start Half-Life 2 but it said I didn't have the required GCF's.
Now I assumed TF2 counted as Episode 2 content seeing how its the Orange Box.
But I just want to know what I need to play Half-Life 2. Do I need both Episode 1 and 2 content, or just Episode 2?
You'll need Episode 2, as this mod uses the latest engine build from that.

Alright, this is the most annoying thing to download ever, i have tried now 5 times to redownloaded the part 5 of this game, and even tried to download part 6 because the file it deals with is part of part 5 and 6, and every single time i get this

will the final version with the original VALVE HD models come in an update form or through the same seperate, 6 part gigabyte files????
Version 7 didn't function well on my PC, it crashed in many places even after I reverted back to the Valve civilian models.
I've spent about two weeks trying to download it. 4 days at attempting to download it part by part. I then spent a week trying to torrent it after turns out the files got corrupted when I tried to download from this site thanks to my internet connection. It worked great when there were no crashes. 
I may have only 3gb or RAM, but everything else worked fine on my system until the crashes at some levels.
Now I've decided to download this mod. It takes about 3 hours to download each part, so I'd love to see a torrent of this beta.
Great work to FakeFactory for his mods, they're amazing.
Your work is very good, but you really need to tone down the textures from 4098x4098. It's a waste of space, annoying and also gets scaled down anyway.
A Texture should NOT be 10 MB.
At least it's future proofed for when the mod is 10 years old.
Just think what Quake 2 would be like 10 years on if ID decided to do some serious res textures back then. It would look quite good today.

What about an extra plugin for the final version which would enable all the hl2 story (hl2+e1+e2) to be played as chapters of a single game?
I usually get corrupted files when the download gets interrupted and stops, or if I pause it. I was wondering if it would be the cause of corrupted files with everyone who complain about it. so, do you pause your downloads and continue them when you have more time or something? if you don't, then that theory goes down.

I almost forgot, I've found some bugs. now I'm in the base where I meet Odessa, and the game has been quite smooth with almost everything maxed out. there have been a couple of crashes though, one where FreemanLockedUp said, when you kill a lot of barnacles at once. the game froze, but I didn't get the BSOD. I got the second crash when destroyed the first gunship with RPG, and I think that I just need more RAM.
then the bugs. I found everything that FreemanLockedUp said, except the invisible object blocking the door. I have also found a couple of new ones. in the same building where that door blocking object is, the first mounted gun that is used by a combine, is still not working. when I opened the gates and tried to use that gun, I couldn't use it and almost got killed. this same bug was in CM7.
the light of the airboat is a mess, it's very narrow, like a normal flashlight and there is some weird shadows all the time, when nothing is on the way. I don't mind about the shadows, but the light is useless when it's so weak.
I found another place where was a disturbing reflection underwater and I think these are not the only places. it can be found where you fight the chopper for the last time. oh, and just before black mesa east, under the dam, is it just me or is the waterfall missing? I never haven't looked at it but I think there has been one.
I like your new citizens, they are starting to look like roughed up warriors, but their facial animations need some adjusting, they look a bit unnatural when they talk.
overall, your mod looks good. I love the new effects and the texture size, well, as long as my computer can even start this, I don't care if it is 2048x2048 or 10000x10000.
sorry for douple post, but I found more. looks like everytime I kill a gunship with the rpg, the game freezes. the hud won't show everything, all necessary is there, but it only shows the amount of ammo picked up but not what kind of ammo. the subtitles won't show up automatically, every time I start the game, I have to enable them.
I'm just wondering if the Gunship crashes are because you don't take these on on in Ep1 and Ep2?
I know the chopper is used in Ep2, hence no crash there, so I'm guessing Valve left the Gunship out of the newer engine build for Ep1 and Ep2.
Well, seems to be an awesome Version if it will be finished. But for now it is full of bugs and not much fun if the game freezes in too many situations. It is NOT because of my Computer. I got a new 64bit High end computer and can play CM7 as every other game with the highest details and options without any problems. When will the final Version 8 be ready for download?
Another Question: Is it possible to use the very, very hot Alyx Versions in CM 7? ( Not the Orange Box but all episodes )

Yes you can use the hot version of Alyx from CM7 as I am doing.
Merge the Repository folder in the Character Pimper in you SteamApps/SourceMods. (note the CM8 Pimper is within the FakeFactory_CM8 Folder while the CM7 is in the root of the SourceMods) to the Repository folder in CM8.
Copy the 'Adriana' and 'VALYX' folders located in SteamApps/SourceMods/FakeFactory_CM/hl2/materials/models to the FakeFactory_CM8/hl2/materials/models.
Now fire up the CM8 Pimper and select the hot Alyx.

See what you mean. Can't see why not, they should be compatable as they are the same mesh. Just copy the HB_Alyx materials/models into CM7, and copy the repository from CM8's Pimper to CM7's. I've just looked and can't find the materials for the GP3_Replica - which is the updated version of the DOM_AJACKE from CM6.
Still there's no reason why the HB_Alyx (HD Valve style Alyx) can't work.
Got a bug problem for you Fake:
This may apply to 32-bit systems only. But whenever I attempt to destroy the first gunship I encounter in Highway 17, immediate crash. Changing settings won't fix this. I think this is a problem related to a combination of the new features (particle system?) from the Orange Box engine and 32-bit systems. I figure you can't do much about it. But I want to make sure anyways.
Have any idea what this is?
I also encountered this when attempting to kill the huge cluster of barnacles in Route Kanal (explosive barrel).
I've encountered this bug on 64-bit. Best way round it is to skip to the next level for now.
Don't forget, this is only a beta for now - till Fake sorts out these little glitches - which is expected when changing to the OrangeBox build.

I still get the things losing gravity bug in EP1 & EP2.. but not in HL2, realy wird bug. Oildrums/crates even npc's starts to swim around in the level

In Episode Two (I've only seen it happen in Episode Two, could be elsewhere as well), Im using the long haired enhanced realism model of Alyx, and when she climbs up the ledge to fix the machine, (at the beginning), her legs kind of fold, and her butt sticks out more, so it is like her legs are normal, and then thin out, and then get to her butt. Weird.

I know its a beta (if you read my other posts in CM 7 and this, you might have known this), in fact I'm playing through the beta to give the best criticism I can for future events. This should really be done for the full blown final version. I just wanted to make sure Fake was aware of this problem because he never mentioned it before (at least I don't think).
It seems to regard heavy particle problems that use the Orange Box engine, which never were used in Episode Two. I think this could actually be a mistake from Valve made on the newer version of the Source engine because the occurances in which this happens tend to actually be with scenarios that never took place in Episode Two (like shooting down a gunship, or blowing up THAT many barnacles at once). But you may have to factor in the newer HD models and higher poly count textures to actually make that happen in the Source engine.
Just a thought. What is the map after that first gunship battle? I wish to continue my journey through Half-Life 2 CM style.
The Map after the first gunship is d2_coast_04. But don't forget there's another tow Gunships to do battle with later.
The characteristics of the buggy are wrong, and it can nolonger make the the jump over the broken bridge in d2_coast_04. The back end fails to reach ground and falls back onto fakes wing.
The game also freezes at Nova Prospect, a few minutes after the first guardian. There are 2 towers, after destroying them a gate opens and a few soldiers appear. Killing the manhackers at this situation lets the game freeze.

I don't know if this is a bug, but near Nova Prospect the game freezes all the time. almost every action leads to a crash in almost every map. I think I need more RAM, but I'm not sure.

there is more you have to do. you have to copy every folder that is referring to Alyx or Adriana and put them in the same folder in CM7, but don't overwrite anything. that should work
I forgot to mention to copy the VALYX folder from the CM8 hl2/meterials/models.
If you've already done this, or copying the VALYX folder does not fix it, then this next bit is guess work, so make backups of these folders before trying it.
Copy the FF_Alexandra and HB_Repository from the CM8 hl2/materials/models, and place them in CM7. Make sure the Alyx variant is set, and then try the game.
Ok thanks guys, i will try it tomorrow. For now i can say that Episode 1 runs without crashes, played it from the beginning to the end. Killing the Combine-heli doesnt cause any problems in CM8 - EP 1 At the citadel level when you and Alyx are crossing this "Storm bridge" there is a small bug. The storm is just shown as a blue field. Also the part where you have to enter the train seems to be bugy. There should be 2 rollermines, but there comes only one. So Alyx doesnt continue starting the train and there are no combines to kill. Only starting an new game with the next part helps. The "Map xyz" command isnt working, There always comes an ingame failure message i dont remember. But the game isnt crashing, you can start another chapter due to the main menu.

The second roller mine gets stuck in some hole in the wall above head hight. You can grab it with the grav gun without jumping. But yes this is a slight glitch.
Come on, Fakefactory! You've gone through all the trouble to add nude skins to the packs yet there's no way to use them? Please put them on the models

I just finished the Ep1 and I didn't find any major bugs or glitches. the hud and effects worked fine and I didn't find any crash bugs. I think the zombines and combine shotgunners need hires skins like normal combines, and it might need a bit more music. in my opinion, there can't be too much music 
The updater (23 MB) should be available within the next hour. It will fix the crashes with gunships and barnacle mass killings and probably some others, i'm not aware of.

At the end of HL2, when the Gman turns up to take you away, his head is missing. All there is is body, eyes and mouth.
During the train ride out of C17, the game goes dead slow and choppy. The music also discontinues and instead there is some weird noise.

I'm having a strange problems with sound. in some Nova Prospect maps I hear quite loud, annoying background sounds like looping buzz, like a pack of antlions was flying at the sky, and some weird looping sound that you can hear from an old, untuned radio. I hear these only in some maps and inside it seems to be a lot louder. does anyone else have this problem, it's very annoying
I didn't experience this, but I did experience a looping sound problem at the end of Ep1 as well as a huge slowdown, on the train ride.
Yet another great job by Fakefactory, alas I'm still not able to play with out crashes, but that won't stop me from trying. 
Episode 2 performed bug free, although I thing I need to invest in a Geforce 9800, as my old 8600 is struggling.

Oh good, an update. I've passed through Nova Prospect, and I don't think I'll be going backwards (there was an antlion attack bug similar to the gunship bug). I've already progressed into Anticitizen One.
Thanks for the patch though, it'll still be of use in the future as I continue to play the game.
hmm, I didn't have anything wrong with the Ep1 ending, I think it was a lot smoother than in CM7. I think I had the same problem in CM7
You can find the music in the hl2/sound/music folder as MP3s. Same at EP1 and EP2 folders.
I get the Runtime c++ 6025 Error Message when loading the EP2 Level after defending Alyx and the Vortigaunt against the Antlions. Later Levels via "map xxx" seem to work. Runtime 6025 means an error in the code, maybe someone else got the same problem...
If you download hangs like mine at about 98 or 99%.
Pause the download, I use flashget, go and download the file again but only copy the new download link then cancel. Go to your paused download and change the download link to the new link. Unpause the download.
Its worked everytime.

For those who don't know Russian: in this video, cops have come to check on a mentally unstable guy who refused to open the door, so they had to saw the door off with some kind of emergency equipment. The guy has apparently consumed a large dose of an illegal drug.
His speech mostly consists of the phrase "Dver zapili!" which is non-existent in regular Russian and literally translates "Saw the door on" as an opposite to the cops' action (who sawed the door off, if such a phrase is ever possible in English). Nobody knows how on earth one can saw a door 'on', which makes the guy's aggressive demands extremely funny. The rest of his words are a mixture of awful swearing and the word 'ment' which means 'cop'.
Fakefactory, all Russian-speaking players would be most obliged to you (and there are hundreds of thousands of us since HL2 takes place somewhere around Kaliningrad and looks EXACTLY like Russian provincial industry-polluted landscape) if you made small mod recreating the scene from the video in the episode where the cops break into a door in the dormitory. It would be great if the Wrong Door guy stepped out and started arguing with the metrocop using the soundtrack from the video clip. And please, if you can, give him that trademark bubble eyes facial expression!
now I completed the HL2 and here's the bugs I found.
in front of overwatch Nexus, there is still those dark spots in the dig just before entering the sewerpipe.
then I didn't find anything wrong before citadel. in citadel, when combine get you and take away the mega gravitygun, there is timing bug. when the combine is taking the gun away and going next to the door, those rays appear. I think that the rays are just in time but the combine takes the gun away too early.
and finally, as FreemanLockedUp said, Gmans head is missing.
then some suggestions. I think you need to make hires skins for combine shotgunners and zombines, replace the naked fat guy in Ravenholm with something suitable, like some guy ripped apart or something and with clothes. then those burned corpses, maybe HD-models? they don't seem to suit anymore . same for the zombies, Valve style HD-zombies, since you are making those Valve style characters, why not the zombies too? the fast and poison zombies are quite low-poly, and there are a lot more regular zombies, so I don't quite understand why these are still the same. oh, and higher resolution for Gmans face would be awesome since the game starts with a closeup of his eye.
these are only suggestions, I can live without these, but since everything else is so smooth, hires and well done, these are a bit disturbing. keep up the good work, Fake!
I get the same exact thing, every time. . Also if I do the sv_unlockedchapters cheat, I get the same error for all the chapters after This Vortal Coil
I too got the timing error when the Combine took the Mega Grav-Gun off me. I think this also happened in CM7 too.
As for the Gman's head, this problem is only limited to HL2. I must confess, I didn't stop and look for him when he "Keeps an eye on Freeman", so I don't know if the problem is limited to the end, or all of HL2 - Will have to play Water Hazard again.

Are we likely to see a full Hi-Res Gman, rather than just the head. He looks very life-like in Ep2 when he interrupts you with the Vorts, but his suit looks very dull.
don't worry, that bug is only limited to the ending. I always look for Gman when I play HL2 or Ep2.
Still investigating the issue. Seems, the old hl2 screeneffect used in this sequence has some problems with the orangebox engine.
Anyone having extremely low speeds ranging from 20-50kb/s using Filefront? This is getting ridicules.
I get about that when I download multiple files at the same time, one at a time gives me about 117kb/s

v7 ran pretty well on my system (E8400, 8800GT-1024, 4 gig ram and Win XP Pro 32bit at a resolution of 1400x1050). Only had 1 crash (cross my fingers).

What you don't seem to get is that game development companies aren't going to spend more time, money, resources, and effort on developing High Resolution textures that aren't supported by current generation Hardware. That's why Crysis is the only game of its kind out, because most companies aren't willing to develop their games for the upper echelons of hardware.

hey in version 7 of cinematic mod i could combine the mod smod and cinematic mod for both graphics and fun cause i already completed half life 2 but now when i try to place copy and paste the folders from smod into cinematic mod 8 folder (models,Materials,Sound etc....) the smod menu and HUD works but none of the new weapons work on the controls like kicking, nightvision etc... if you can find a solution please tell me

The reason is that this version of the Mod is a on different engine, plus the files the smod weapons are codded in has to replace a file this mod needs, so it won't work.
i found a workaround for the smod weapons replacing the files this mod needs. when you let it replace the server.dll and client.dll in the bin folder, just go to steamappssource sdk base 2007 sourcetestbin and replace the ones in the cinematic mod folder with those. sadly, it still doesnt work its probably because cinematic 8 half life 2 is on source 2007 engine. but in the comments for cinematic mod 7 i heard fake mention something about he was looking for something to convert half life 2 to source 2007 engine. if their is a way to do this please tell me fake or anybody else.

Yes. either you are having to less ram or you are using a 32 bit windows, that's why.
When I start up the setup.exe and go though the confirms, when pressing install it doesn't install and I get an error saying it could not create the uninstall.dat.
Does it have anything to do with me having 32bit (3070 MB of mem)?
EP2:
After killing all those Antlions i get a Runtime c++ error while entering this tunnel with the vort. Full reinstall, even of steam, changes nothing. I didnt have this problem with CM7. Starting with a later level works for a few minutes, but then the game crashes the same way. HL2 and EP1 are running without any problems. Help please :-(

I've tried and tried. But at the part in Nova Prospekt where I have to defend myself with the automatic guns pointed in every direction, I can't go anywhere. Mainly because Alyx never show up after it's all done to open the next gate for me. I keep waiting for maybe a fix or something to come out for that, but no one else seems to be reporting the same problem. I sure could use some help here.
I don't know if this has anything to do with it, but I'm also having another silent Alyx just follow me around starting in Entanglement. So I have two Alyx's whenever she's supposed to be there. I know it's some sort of glitch, and it didn't really matter before, but now I am stuck and I don't know how to get out. Please help me somebody!
I did experience problems with Alyx in Episode 1, where the Scripted scene with her and Dog stood next to the Van became broken. This was resolved though by reloading a quicksave from before the scene.
In your case though it sounds like something else has gone wrong, and I'm not sure if loading the next map will work.

You might have the same problem I had once. Alyx don't show up because there is the last combine left. I think you should throw a grenade or combineball in every place where a combine could show up, I've had a combine stuck somewhere for a few times. if that won't work, sorry, I can't help then
Fakefactory, a fantastic mod as always and very much appreciated. I just have one question.
How do you make the main menu animated rather than the standard static. I recall in previous versions there was an option you change in the config but cant remember where or which option it was. If it can be done in this version any info would be greatly appreciated.

Downloadfed this and just starting Anticitizen 1 chapter -- a few crashes but thats due to my system resetting from Medium textures ( which is what it reccomends for my system and work perfectly ) and instead reverting to Very High which sometimes crash and other times dont at a swction load - so I have got into habit of quicksaving just before level loading.
Sweet...Next time, post some in-game images instead Wait...that is in-game ?!

The Character pimper, the V8 model of original Alyx cannot be celected in part: C17 plaza.
havent gotten to play yet, but the V8 Alyx model is set on C17 plaza, but if u change it u cannot change it back to the V8 Alyx model.

I hope i'm not the only one with this problem, i just noticed it today when i loaded hl2 up and came by some fire.
The only thing that is showing is some yellow colour, but not the fire effect.

All I have is Half-Life 2 so I cant play besides even if i did have all the games I would not have enough specs to run it, I have the saddest computer ever: 256 MB of ram a 70 GB hard drive. 2 GHZ P4 and Nvidia Geforce 2 (a.k.a 100/200)
But I do have over a gig in VRAM.
Is it possible to Play the Mod only with HL² and Episode 1 ??

Just about everytime a new edition of the CM comes out I replay Half-Life 2. It just keeps getting better everytime. You Fake are truely talented and if you don't already work in the computer graphics field, you should be.
For the record, I'm running this mod on Vista Ultimate x32 and haven't had any problems yet (I'm up about the middle of the second chapter). I did however use the /PAE and /set increaseuserva with BCDEdit. Not sure if I needed either or both, but I used them anyway. I don't know enough about it to say. FWIW, my system specs are Q6600 CPU, 3870 512MB video, 4GB DDR2 800. At the native resolution of my monitor with vsync on I hardly ever drop below 60 FPS. And when I do it never goes below 50. All settings are maxed except for AA which is off (IMO you don't really need it when you play at the native res of your monitor). These cards don't like AA too much so with AA I do dip to the 30's in outdoor scenes.
Once again, great job Fake. BTW, do you, have you, or do you plan to contribute to the Black Mesa project? Maybe with some talent like yours they'll be finished before 2025.
Awesome! I finally snagged vista 64 and this runs beautifully. Locked in at a solid 60 fps with all details maxed out.
Question for you FakeFactory, the cl_detaildist, cl_detailfade and cl_maxrenderable_dist value changes I tried in the console didn't extend the draw distance. I want to see more rather than a fog off in the distance. The FPS indicates that the hardware is physically capable of rendering much more than it currently is but is the drawdistance limited by the source engine? Or is there another way around this?
The only other quibble I have is that the bloom lighting to simulate HDR I assume is a bit overblown. Is there a way to reduce the amount of bloom lighting via console command?

Oh My God! i was so exited for this and now that i finally got all 6 parts(after waiting all day for them to download) i start the setup and it has been almost 4 hours of waiting it still isnt done i have had to uninstall and remove countless games and folers to try and ift it and it still needs more disk space and it had to shut down steam to make more disk space and i cant restart steam because it says there is not enough fricken DISK SPACE TO DO SO!!! anyone got any ideas why i see mto be the only one whos computer this has forced them to screw up then not even work? 
oh yeahand i have been able to run almost everything else fakefactory has made, is this version like some sort of super mega test to see who is rich enough to have like some sort of super computer? because im not 
Alright people, I've found a torrent for this. Should increase your download speed by a lot. Remember, if you have already download one or more parts from this site and want to combine that into the torrent, simply stop the torrent download, place the part into the folder of where the torrent is downloading to, and restart the torrent. Question, you say it was made on a 64-bit system, but why doesn't 64-bit mode enable? In my task manager it says hl2.exe*32 whereas, if I run the normal hl2 from Steam, 64-bit is enabled. What gives?
So um how exactly do I use this mod? Like I've installed it but when I play it, all the models show up completely normal o.O World looks different, characters don't o.o I'm confused.
Hi, parts 1/6 to 5/6 all OK! but part 6/6 in filefront do not donwload, server KO? broken? Thanks.
