FAKEFACTORY & OGG Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2 V2.32 Complete
(Full localized Non Override Version)
----------------------------------------------------------


Patchlevel: Addon 3.22

What is this:

- The Cinematic Modification adds Hires-Textures to all human
characters, some
non-human characters, nearly all items, walls and vehicles (and the
vending
mashine of course). (Hint: If you prefer the original Low-Res
Textures, delete
or rename the "materials" folder inside the Mod.)

- It replaces the original HL2 music with a more classic score in the
style of
large Hollywood productions, that fits to the specific
game-situations. More
orchestral, more ambient, with unique themes for combines and Alyx.
(Hint: If
you prefer the original HL2-music score, delete or rename the "sound"
folder and
the "scripts" folder inside the Mod.)

- It adds a new weapons-balancing and strengthens all the weapons
to a more
realistic level. No more firing numerous rounds at the combines; kill
them with
3 to 5 direct hits, just like in real-life combat, but beware: Your
opponents
weapons are comparable. After 3 to 5 direct hits (or 1 direct
headshot) you
*will* be killed. (Hint: If you prefer the original Weapons
balancing, delete
the file "skill.cfg" inside the Mod's cfg-folder)

- The additional Insane Hires Props are previous unreleased
Hirestextures
for nearly all props in the game, even little items like
binders,
computerparts, doorlocks and so on. The huge amount of details will
give your
HL2 virtually the look of a render-intro, but be warned: The
amount of new
textures will tax your hardware to the limit. Better don't use this
pack with
outdated DirectX8 cards. Don't even think about it, unless you are using
a 256+
MB card.




Supplementing Info for users of the FAKEFACTORY HiRes Packs: This pack
combines
all the FAKEFACTORY HiRes Packs together and adds some new
ones. Just
override the allready installed textures with the new ones
in this
modification.




Replaced Textures:
------------------

nearly all Lores or Low-Detail textures




Requirements:
-------------

- Half-Life2 installed

- A graphics-card, that can handle 2048 x 2048 pixel
textures (any DirectX9 card should be okay). - plenty of RAM (you will
see some
ingame-stuttering with less than 1.5 GB ram)




Installation:
-------------

1. Unzip the archive to your harddisk.

2. Open the unziped archive and copy the "FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic"
and the "fakefactory_cinematic_german"
(inside "1. MOD Directory") folder to your <path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/
folder and overwrite all previous files..

3. Install the XVID-Codec, if not allready installed (no restart required)


Restart Steam, Start a new game, choose "Third Party Games ->
FAKEFACTORY
Cinematic Mod" and enjoy a new Half-Life 2 Singleplayer experience.

First Run will take significant longer, because the source-engine
builds the
audio-cache files.



Installation for Garry's Mod:
----------------------------

If you want to use the new Hires-Textures with Garry's Mod, copy all
content
inside the "materials" folder (you'll find this inside the
FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic
dir) to the according folder in Garry's mod, usually:
<path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/gmod9/materials



Deinstallation:
---------------

Delete the folders: <path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic <path
to SteamApps>/SourceMods/fakefactory_cinematic_german>



TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------

IF YOU GET ASYNCHRONOUS SOUNDS, DO THIS: Search the file Autoexec.cgf
in the
MODS cfg folder for the line <snd_mixahead "0.7"> and
change it to
<snd_mixahead "0.1">

A CS hi-res pack would be useless, imagne trying to have a server cache that crap.
Maybe on a huge bandwith, dedicated. I don't know. I sure as hell wouldn't be trying to join it.

It'd be awesome for single player use though ^_^

Does this even include the following:

HL2 FFs Addon Hotfix (v3.20) = the Ivy + decals
HL2 FFs Addon Hotfix (v3.21) = texture with better details + exture for better tiling
HL2 FFs Addon Full (v3.2) = - props + - walls and floors + Fast-Zombie skin + etc

Or do I need to add these seperately afterwards or before?

HL2 already has bloom. Look in the options menu. God, how many times do I have to say this? Roll Eyes (sarcastic) Unless ur talking about bloom that's BETTER than the bloom we've already got, then that would rock.

A hires CSS pack would NOT work. I bet only 1/4 of the WORLD be able to run it at a good framerate. I certainly couldn't, not with my 2GB of RAM. stick out tongue

Fakefactory: Are u ever going to reveal what your'e planning for HL2 if/when u find a coder? I'm just curious.

A: To be up-to-date, just install the full pack of the CinematicMod
v2.20 or
Hirespack v2.20 and update the installation with
Addon2, Addon3.1 Addon3.2, Addon 3.21, Addon 3.22
(or just get the massive Fullpack v. 2.32)

That came from the latest hotfix readme so that should answer any "What the heck do I need to download" questions. IN OTHER WORDS if you d/l this file you have everything up until he releases something new.

@ FAKEFACTORY: German: There is a small translation error in German sprachsync in the play, which the developers made. In the scene, where gordon, alyx and you are imprisoned dad and breen with Dr. in the citadel speak, and Mossman Gordon released and afterwards Breen with the manipulator harm arranges, sits Eli and Mossman at the soil and lead a short dialogue. As Alyx says it is added soetwas like "Dad we longs itself again" and Eli drauf "never" the set of "Dad this is emergency A goodby" wrongly translated... Perhaps you can change also times, that would be mad

I love all these cinematic mods from fakefactory, but I think when you got the final release, you'd try to compile it a little more, because 1,2 GB is really a huge mod (It's more than HL2).

@#14 my mod has parralax mapping and it takes time and alot of testing per texture for it to work.

also im not sure how it would work on textures this high res
in any point its a job that many woulnt undertake putting parralax mapping in hl2
also the build of hl2 you guys play wont support it youl get see through walls!

I can't download it. frown My browser stops the download when the transfer speed is too slow, and whenever I try to click "resume", for some reason the download starts over again, overwriting the already transferred data and then stops at 31kB claiming to be finished. I don't know what to do; my patience is running out after third time of starting the download only to see it fail after having transferred 400 megs. frown

Isn't it possible to split the huge download to smaller archives, like 100 megs or so? I'm really looking forward to downloading and playing this mod, but currently I can't.

Well, I found a workaround. I just made a backup copy of the incomplete file whenever the download stopped, and then when the resumed file overwrote itself, I paused the transfer, copied the backup copy back over the resumed file, and then resumed again... It seemed to work! smile

A pain in the butt, but now it's finally finished! Gonna install now and see if I have to get some more RAM...

OK, tested for a while, and I have to say that the mod rocks! Too bad that on my system the loading times almost take longer than the levels between them, and the stuttering makes fighting scenes really difficult... But it looks damn nice. smile

I am a Finn, so it was naturally quite surprising to actually find Finnish milk cartons in the mod. Those light-blue and white colored cartons with the cow on the front are an actual Finnish design! (It's fat-free milk, btw.) I have to agree they fit quite well in the eastern-Europe setting of the game, but I hope FakeFactory doesn't think Finland is a former part of the Soviet Union... wink I noticed most of the posters on the walls seem to be in Czech, so maybe he thought that milk carton was too.

I would just like to show you people 3 screens i took today..

In 2 month time i have mixed the cinematic mod with another mod called smod.. NO GAME WILL BEAT THIS IN A LONG TIME!!

The best thing is when you go in bullettime and the cinematic music is playing, that allmost makes me cry everytime.

No he has not forgotten the texture. The Problem is that the whole elevator must be textured with one texture-file. He cannot increase the resolution anymore.

Just copy the smod-folder into Sourcemods . Then you can copy materials, sounds and models from cinematic mod into the smod-folder et voila , you have a combination of smod and cinematic mod.

Then you must edit the config file. You have some config files which include some parametres for a low end, mid end, or high end rig etc. Just copy the parametres you want into the main config file "config,cfg" and play.

Yes, as long as you give him FULL credit for the textures you can use them for your own work. Also, if you use the bumpmaps don't forget to give credit to Ogg, not FF.

I must admit that there a few situations where the framerate is quite low but actually even with Smod it remains playable. I even have 16xAF and 6xAA activated. Without any optimizations of course (i use ATI Tray Tools).

Yes, but the difference is only dependent on the components. If you posess 1 gig RAM and have a mother board which is capable of interacting with this RAM with an appropriate speed (400DDR low latency) it should be as fast as my PC if you have a graphics board with 256MB RAM and the same Aperture Size restriction.

Could you please tell me what other addons you have installed?

Really don't like this, hate what you did to Alyx, she's absolutely butchered, her face is nearly featureless, I support high definition releases like this but don't mess with their facial structure, Alyx sporting makeup, perfect eyebrows, and an all around Model-esque appearance? Ok guys: FakeFactory Cinematic Mod Version 3.0 will likely feature beside everything we already have:

- Dynamic Sound System = Music adapts to gameplay
- Bloom Shader
- realistic Lens-Flare effects
- reworked hires textures (remaining scaling bugs will hopefully be fixed)

Sounds quite promising imo. Let's hope there will be a high-poly alyx.
The update will mainly focus on shaders and sound. Don't expect too much new hires content. But in the end i would be glad if all the bugs will be fixed. I sent FakeFactory a zip file with screenies of bugs I found in his mod. Maybe this will help him to make his work even better.

I agree with #96 here with Alyx. I know that Valve did a bang-up job on her face. But now think about the storyline. Do you really think that ANY woman is gonna look as good with all the makeup that is portrayed in the latest Alyx model when by the storyline there is NO makeup to be had!!!! The supporting troop female characters actually look more realistic with all their blemishes considering the above-mentioned fact of the story, which is, no supplies. Seriously, where in the world did Alyx get the makeup? The original makeup doesn't last THAT long. Now Alyx looks good from the head on down without the torn-up shirt. I seriously think that a woman is not gonna wear something like what was portrayed in the third selection of the creator pack that you did unless she JUST came out of a battle with blood all over her. Now a suggestion; Alyx looks dang good without the makeup. Isn't she a model in her past life before THE incident??? True show models look very good with very little makeup. Any female will tell you that and I think that most males would agree on that point. I think the original Valve version of Alyx face will do. I think they got her face spot on. So there is a slight amount of blemishes in her. Actually to tell the truth, I like a woman without makeup. More natural. The more they put on, the more the mask hides and the more you are deceived. Yikes!!! True, there are some things that they can take care of like SHAVE OFF the mustache! Yes seriously.
Umm, I don't think that Alyx has that problem.

On a separate thing: in the 'Our Benefactors' map with the blue grav gun and consecutive associated maps, there is a big problem in realism with the suit power, being 750 max, and the hurt that one gets to his health. Very un-balanced!!! After playing though the whole game up to this point, one would assume that 750 suit would help out a lot, but it don't do squat!!! I'm dead with about 600 left on the suit. It seems that you didn't adjust the ratio of armour/hit points for these areas. A hint for the newbies, DON'T waste any of the power-up stations on that series of maps past 100 Health. That way you would have more efficient use of those stations. Might make a difference in the gameplay.

I'm running a 6800 on a A64 3200+ KV8-pro with 1 gig memory and the only areas that I have a problem with major slowdowns is in open outdoor areas when they first load up. Real choppy as you turn around then it seems to smooth out. Download it overnight if possible. It's worth it.

About the health-charger level: The weapons are a lot stronger now. Therefore a bunch of combine soldiers with pulse-rifles can easily kick your butt. This was one goal of the mod. The citadel level shouldn't be a piece of cake. It should give some headache, how to reach the top-level.
You can delete the skill.cfg inside the mods cfg folder for old game-balancing, as you can read in the readme.

Look from the very outset it was started like project for FAST computers. Because Source can more, but for you and for people with slow machines Valve made (specially , notice it!) system requirements very (again notice it VERY) low. So, you have to upgrade you computer or play in original hl2. Becuase retexturing it's huge amount of work, and it's impossible to satisfy everybody.

Yes we already had this topic. It's a hires pack. This is only for the very fast computers although i have to admit mine is two years old and can still handle it. It's the same with SM3.0 . People with SM2.0 always complain about games using only SM3.0 for the very cool effects. Of course, most effects are possible with SM2.0 but SM3.0 just offers more performance and at last relief mapping (or steep parallax-mapping) needs dynamic branching and Sm2.does not have that so every computer will be out-dated after some time.

My comp isnt old, its just for some reason it wont let me raise my res higher than 1024 x 768

and at that res the faces on the Main characters get a little blurry from far away, the civillians are ok though. Fakefactory should fix some of their skins though, mostly some of their cliff ones look bad up close

like this rock gravel thing, if you see further ahead you can see the skin looks good, but when you get closer it looks bad.

Guess im stuck with my monitor. I hate the bulky ones and I dont feel like buying an expensive new flat screen monitor.Resistance is Futile!

How much ram is recommended to play the mod with? I have 1 gb, but it still gets laggy when something new is happening. Like when barney first walkes in to Dr. Kleiners lab. It lags for like 1 sec, but thats still too laggy for me.

1 GB is minimum, i recommend 2 GB. But even more important is the VRAM of you graphics card. Don't use the mod with a 128 MB card. For fitting all textures and meshes into VRAM ( = smooth playing) you need a 512 MB card.

I would use the default tree models. I prefer them because in some areas Fake's models collide with house walls.

My advice for the next release: Give them more polys but keep their shape.

Well the reason i got the x1900 was that my x800's fan died( most likely from overclocking) and my warranty expired. So when i was looking for a replacement fan I happened to see an x1900 XTX. Well lucky my I bought that! O and its price was 450$.

Look in the config folder of the mod. There are some files that contain different parametres for different system specs and different preferences. Just copy the these parametres into the main config file and you get what you want. I used all the things for HighSpec and SuperGore etc. Then you should get the warp trail.

And Smod really is a lot of fun when using cheats. Impulse 101, god etc. Btw: If you activate cheats the bullet time acts more like in max payne. Your movement is slower but the enemy's movement is much slower than yours and your bullets are faster than the enemy's bullets.

Question: In of these screenies here you can see ravenholm and all the wood textures redone. In my version one is missing and therefore looks really odd in its places. I remember sending you an email with a screenshot showing this texture. Could you please include it in CM3 ? It's the one behind the saw blades.

If your trying to run this mod on that PC.. u will get these results, your RAM's too low and Graphic card isn't that good... I'm not making u feel bad or sumthing, Juss get atleast 1.5 GB RAM then see the difference. smile

One thing i wanna say to FF... Plz dont make these mods so big that it takes hell long to download... Well its worth killing the time and watching TV but still PLZ, I beg u... Compress the files so its about 500 - 800 Megs (Even with Cable and a Download accelator it takes me about 40 mins to download this)

Hey there...reading through PC Gamer, I found out about this mod...I haven't installed it yet but just reading these threads and seeing the pics...can't wait! I've DL'd the HUGE file already but just haven't had time to install.

One question...My LCD's native res is 1600x1200 and I have a 3.4Ghz P4, 1GB DDR2 ram and X800XT...am I gonna see a difference after I install all this...or is this only for people who can play at the 2XXX x 1XXX resolution?

I should still see all the better stuff, right?

Also...if I wanted...would I be able to pick out my own tracks, rename them and replace the files in the SOUND folder? I wanna add in some T2/T3 scores in there.

Just played a little Episode 1...

@ FakeFactory: Sadly the alyx textures is messed up in episode 1... so i lookz like some of the textures might not work with Episode 1. But i don't know if i am the only one experiencing this ?

But as far as i can see other textures work fine where i am now in Episode 1... hope there is a way to fix alyx.
And btw... looking forward to your new pack, any release date yet now that Episode 1 is out ?

Found out that she now have a plaster or something on her left sholder... so it's the alyx_sheet causing black artifact on her now.

Half way threw now.. and everyone of FF's textures work smile But there are many new textures in Episode one... I wonder what FF want to focus most on now... Half life 2 or Episode 1 ?

The vanilla HL2 stuff is not included.

1. Valve has to update the sdk first, so HL2 mods can benefit from EP1-engine features. Currently i'm working with a rather crude hack'n mix of HL2 and EP1 engine-files for development.

2. I'm about to rewrite some scene scripts for vanilla HL2 to synchronize the soundtrack with the action on the screen.

Wouldn't it be more resource efficient to model her with clothes and no unseen "nudeness" underneath, rather than model her complete with all bells and whistles and then slap some clothes on her?

I guess you could delete bits of her body that aren't shown afterwards, but i'm guessing the skinning and rigging on those bits would have taken quite a bit of work.

Start with height and normal mapping please. It does not kill your ram and looks fantastic imo. Look at this: Left side is normal and parallax-mapped, right is the normal texture (envmask wip). I know it does not look perfect but it's mainly the shader.

It says that my graphics card should have 256 of card ram. I only have 128, but I have 1.5 gigs of regular ram. It works fine, and only lowers my frame rate by about 2-8 frames per second. Is it supposed to lower you frame rate or keep it normal? I am running it at 1680*1050.

512 MB cards are optimal, because zero texture-memory swapping is needed.
256 MB cards are recommendet for good gameplay without frame-hickups
128 MB cards can handle the mod with good overall framerates, but you will encounter some framerate drops and hickups, when new meshes and textures are loading.

Remember to set you Ingame graphic settings to very high, or you will miss most details of the hires textures.

I am taken back by the amount of work gone into this. I have to give it to all the guys who have spent there own time making this for us, GOOD ON YOU!. The music is really outstanding! It really draws you into the game. And the textures, WOW! I feel privaliged to be lucky enough to be able to play this mod.

For FF:
It ran fine for me apart from the odd stutter now and again. Im on a 2gig ram machine with 2.2Ghz Daul core and my card is an nVidia(what else) GeForce 6800 with 512Mb of memory. I was playing in 1280*1024 becuase I am using a 19" TFT and that is its max resolution.

Not final, but the pic should give you a sense.

CM3 will come with medium-poly alyx / eli / mossman / kleiner (up to 16000 triangles) and high-poly alyx (30000 triangles) for highend graphic-cards. Not shure about the civilians, because i have to remember the global poly-limit of the source engine.

i can't give a release-date yet, there is just too much to do. Gametests with the current version are visualy breath-taking, believe me. HighPoly models with Highres-Textures in motion are close to Final Fantasy - The movie. But don't think about the mod, unless you got bunch of RAM sticks. HL2 with CM3 needs RAM-spikes of 3 GB for swapping-free gameplay.

2. Open the unziped archive and copy the "FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic"
and the "fakefactory_cinematic_german"

3. Install the XVID-Codec, if not allready installed (no restart required)

Sitting here and i'm very angry at the moment frown i'm trying 2 make some concrete floors that FF haven't done but now i understand why you didn't do them.

No matter how high resolution i make them, they still continue being unsharp and the same.
I copy the original texture 4 times in a 1024x1024 window in photoshop...

A request if you haven't tryed to do these concrete floor i would be very happy if you would try... because those floors are used so much in the game.

Software Development Kit - the base for modders. Without an SDK it would almost be impossible to release good mods except some script changes (mainly open files that are not decrypted). For example the hammer is part of the sdk. Then if you like to start a stand alone project based on the source engine (Black Mesa Source) you can start with some resource files that are included in the sdk.

You should write an email to Valve. At first they shoud fix swapping-problems. Then they should resolve this problem.

Btw: I own 2 gig now and there's still a crash in the hospital, sometimes even with that c++-error. (EP1-version)

Hi FF i d/l and installed ur mod earlier today and i'm having some problems...i was expecting to see hi-res textures like the ones in the screenshots u posted but for some strange reason the only hi-res textures i see are on the character models and tree bark! confused All the other textures are the same as in the original HL2!

I loved both of your'e Cinematic mods, Hl2 & Hl2:ep1. will there be a full HL2: EP1 Fakefactory & Oggs Cinematic mod, there's only a Pre-Release Version with just a bunch of texture fixes. in your Ep1 release alyxs neck seems like it has a scar, also can you give A way that gives you choice if you want the Alyx from Hl2 FF's 1.04 or either 2.32.

Personally I'd like to get the 1.04 Alyx in EP1, I've tried to get ALyx 1.04 in Ep1 but alas No go frown

So if I asked too much.

Just found a way to workaround the 32K limit (older mdlcompiler exe -- thankgod i'm a backup-pervert).

There will be a new sound scripting as far as i remember.

The arms look strange but other than that they are really hot (maybe a bit more flesh).
The original one is really well-done.
You could also improve the fingers' curves.

Some new textures (especially the lab-tilefloors you can see in the screenshots) please, if possible.

Maybe you give her a little wristband. That should hide the zone. But i can't believe that Valve's System does not allow to make her a bit thicker (at least the arms since her back and her legs look nice already).

I know it must get on your nerves by now but it's really the only negative aspect of your model.

But the weapon is really nice. Has it been done completely by you?

The arms are not the problem. The current models are thicker. But the wrist-bending gives me some headache. It looks unnatural with armed pistol. Maybe i give the Action-variants some gloves.

One part in me says that model is great you should not critisize it negatively all the time. But the other part in me says she must be good at stealing things since her arms hands and fingers seem a bit too long (compare them with barney's). The screenshots might create a wrong impression but this is something i always thought when looking at the arms.

I played nearly successfuly this mod, but the "Our Benefactors" chapter is unplayable in x64 mode.
When i copy the mod into the 'SourceMods' folder, then everything ok, but the game running in x86 mode; mat_forcebloom command is unavailable in console and I need this. Cry
So i copied the content of this folder to 'my usernamehalf-life 2hl2', and it seems to be ok, the game now running in x64.
It is wonderful until the 14. chapter. There when i hit a soldier with an energy core, then the game crash. confused
In previously chapters, when i shooted a soldier with an energy core, then this problem is not exist. I dont know, WTF is this....
So can you make anything? Or play it in x86 mode henceforward.

I believe it would take too much time to test the mod in x64-mode because you need a new OS and have to reinstall everything. But maybe FakeFactory has a system that runs windows x64. Otherwise i don't see much of a chance that the x64 bug will be fixed.

WHEN can we expect the Ep1-Non-Override-version and will there be any changes to the override-version (maybe phong-lighting).

Btw: Have you already thought about the release of CM3.0 ? At the moment it seems like Filefront doesn't allow us to upload very big files.

I never was able to play HL2 in 64bit mode. it crashes my comp after view seconds, with or without mod. the 64bit engine has some serious flaws, i guess.

Fakefactory you should get a HL2 Files domain. They give them out to modders, skinners, mappers etc. Then you can customize it and add all your files. I can't wait for the release of the EP1 pack!

Well worth the huge download ! At first when I started the mod I thought "well that's not so different" before I realized how much more detailed the game has become. The mod is so well done that you'll wonder how the game could ever have look less good !

Special mention for the incredible work on normal maps (I was blown away by Dr. Steiner's lab coat) ! And to the now almost lifelike characters !

This mod should be made official by Valve, no kidding !

The mod (future updates) should be released at first before Valve declares it as official. I'm gettin tired of waiting around here. That mainly refers to the ep1-version but what about cm3.0 when it's ready to be released? I think FakeFactory, as the others already said, you may consider another place to upload the file. Since the pack contains many files you can split the mod into several parts. This way you should be able to release it elsewhere.

how the hell do you get this thing to work, the directions are so damn bland. Ive extracted those 2 folders to the sourcemods folder, done the xvid thing and restarted steam. NOTHING shows up at all for 3rd party games, in either hl2 or steam. i have no idea how you people figured this out. All that shows up on half life 2 is the new game and 'more' button.

Coder to change decals?! No way I could replace a bullet decal with the skin of a cone.

Also, this will be nice, these also aren't skins, they are models with skins. More importantly, high poly models with 2048x2048 textures.

@Heckler. Of course you can but probably not hires. You ever noticed that decals can overlay correctly. This is a special system in source which is also responsible for the fact that there's always the same decal for one kind of material. With some coding you can refine this system i believe.

Of course. You can do hires decals, but then they won't overlay correctly anymore.

Tell me if i am wrong but I'm quite sure this is right.

Well not true, there is a text which you can edit to make it so you can have your own decals for certain things. like I made it so there is a plastic decal and a cement decal, and a metal decal and a hard metal decal.

You can use Hires Decals, but during a heavy firefight your framerate will drop to bottom.

It will, well SMOD uses a lot of decals, I mean sometimes it will be black and bright yellow from blood and alien blood.

I'm completely on FAKEFACTORY'S side i must admit and it's surely not because i'm a German as well. The problem that his files don't appear on this site anymore does not just exists since yesterday. There have been many comments not just by me complaining about this and all the people including me, as far as i can rememer, tried to express their anger in an appropriate way. But sometimes it's just too much and i can fully understand that the result is flaming. To be correct, this isn't real flaming. Flaming means exaggerated critisizing without any good reason. But FAKE had all reasons i must admit.
I know this site is to be taken as a service, not a right but do you all really think that you
become more popular by avoiding to offer files which are definitey wanted by a huge part of the community? Ok, rules must be followed by i don't see any rule that forbids to upload any of FAKE's new files. It's not illegal and it's not pornographic.

I can't quite believe that you have never got any of the new files. And to be honest and directly, if flaming reminds you of these things, for god's sake, flame!

Wow, that's looking really awesome. I mean, more Hi-Res textures, better light effects, a fully dynamic Music System, now Phong Shaders? CM3 is going to blow the last release, heck maybe all the other HL2 SP mods straight out of the water.

I can't wait for this. Hope you find a good site, or if possible, find out how to fix this Filefront problem, so we can have a smooth release, from the sound of it, this thing is going to be HUGE!

I like the phong alot, but you should put the metropolice style jacket normals on the rebels vest, because they are the same, also the phong on the metropolice uniform looks wet, kinda the same on barneys face.

Awesome! Phong-Shading and Rim-Lighting is not very performance intensive but adds a lot to the atmosphere and the overall visual impression. Anyway there are still about 20 textures which could really be improved (e.g.: floor you see in the last screenshot, the other tilefloors (hires tiles next to low-res files in nova propspect look really odd to be honest) and one mud-texture) All in all the visuals and the music is very good and i can't imagine a HL2 without your cinematic mod anymore but the examples i mentioned really stick out and that makes the package look a bit incomplete.

Actually garfields parallax shader works for ATI cards, even on models. You just have to edit the vmt-files. And parallax-mapping in source engine is very difficult because many walls are auto-smoothed which results in vector-sharing. The effect is that there are many texture errors. Just inform you a bit about parallax-occlusion shaders (if you haven't already) and you'll understand this.
