FakeFactory & Ogg's Cinematic Mod (v2.32 Full) - Readme
Readme File:
README:

----------------------------------------------------------

FAKEFACTORY & OGG Cinematic Mod for Half Life 2 V2.32 Complete
(Full localized Non Override Version)
----------------------------------------------------------

Patchlevel: Addon 3.22

What is this:

- The Cinematic Modification adds Hires-Textures to all human
characters, some
non-human characters, nearly all items, walls and vehicles (and the
vending
mashine of course). (Hint: If you prefer the original Low-Res
Textures, delete
or rename the "materials" folder inside the Mod.)

- It replaces the original HL2 music with a more classic score in the
style of
large Hollywood productions, that fits to the specific
game-situations. More
orchestral, more ambient, with unique themes for combines and Alyx.
(Hint: If
you prefer the original HL2-music score, delete or rename the "sound"
folder and
the "scripts" folder inside the Mod.)

- It adds a new weapons-balancing and strengthens all the weapons
to a more
realistic level. No more firing numerous rounds at the combines; kill
them with
3 to 5 direct hits, just like in real-life combat, but beware: Your
opponents
weapons are comparable. After 3 to 5 direct hits (or 1 direct
headshot) you
*will* be killed. (Hint: If you prefer the original Weapons
balancing, delete
the file "skill.cfg" inside the Mod's cfg-folder)

- The additional Insane Hires Props are previous unreleased
Hirestextures
for nearly all props in the game, even little items like
binders,
computerparts, doorlocks and so on. The huge amount of details will
give your
HL2 virtually the look of a render-intro, but be warned: The
amount of new
textures will tax your hardware to the limit. Better don't use this
pack with
outdated DirectX8 cards. Don't even think about it, unless you are using
a 256+
MB card.

Supplementing Info for users of the FAKEFACTORY HiRes Packs: This pack
combines
all the FAKEFACTORY HiRes Packs together and adds some new
ones. Just
override the allready installed textures with the new ones
in this
modification.

Replaced Textures:
------------------

nearly all Lores or Low-Detail textures

Requirements:
-------------

- Half-Life2 installed

- A graphics-card, that can handle 2048 x 2048 pixel
textures (any DirectX9 card should be okay). - plenty of RAM (you will
see some
ingame-stuttering with less than 1.5 GB ram)

Installation:
-------------

1. Unzip the archive to your harddisk.

2. Open the unziped archive and copy the "FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic"
and the "fakefactory_cinematic_german"
(inside "1. MOD Directory") folder to your <path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/
folder and overwrite all previous files..

3. Install the XVID-Codec, if not allready installed (no restart required)

Restart Steam, Start a new game, choose "Third Party Games ->
FAKEFACTORY
Cinematic Mod" and enjoy a new Half-Life 2 Singleplayer experience.

First Run will take significant longer, because the source-engine
builds the
audio-cache files.

Installation for Garry's Mod:
----------------------------

If you want to use the new Hires-Textures with Garry's Mod, copy all
content
inside the "materials" folder (you'll find this inside the
FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic
dir) to the according folder in Garry's mod, usually:
<path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/gmod9/materials

Deinstallation:
---------------

Delete the folders: <path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic <path
to SteamApps>/SourceMods/fakefactory_cinematic_german>

TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------

IF YOU GET ASYNCHRONOUS SOUNDS, DO THIS: Search the file Autoexec.cgf
in the
MODS cfg folder for the line <snd_mixahead "0.7"> and
change it to
<snd_mixahead "0.1">

Legal notice: Used Soundsamples are copyright-free to my knowledge,
picked from
several free soundtrack teasers. If you encounter a copyrighted
song, please
contact me, so i can remove the file.

 #3 - Posted by: bassman61588 (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 13:37
COUNTER STRIKE SOURCE PACK PLEASE Rock . Great Work BTW.

#4 - Posted by: kylendm (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 15:08
I highly agree with #4 HL2 is awsome but if you did counter strike source too it would be ultimate.

#5 - Posted by: Scorian (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 16:09
A CS hi-res pack would be useless, imagne trying to have a server cache that crap.
Maybe on a huge bandwith, dedicated. I don't know. I sure as hell wouldn't be trying to join it.

It'd be awesome for single player use though ^_^

#6 - Posted by: TKAzA (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 16:55
I have high resed my dod source
and my css weapon models

#7 - ?s About Integrated FF addons - Posted by: killpuppy (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 19:29
Does this even include the following:

HL2 FFs Addon Hotfix (v3.20) = the Ivy + decals
HL2 FFs Addon Hotfix (v3.21) = texture with better details + exture for better tiling
HL2 FFs Addon Full (v3.2) = - props + - walls and floors + Fast-Zombie skin + etc

Or do I need to add these seperately afterwards or before?

Thanks in Advanced smile

#8 - Posted by: saintzin (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 19:30
scorian u dont download map skins dummy, its client side. no extra bandwith or server cache would be used.

dont lie to these innocent children

#9 - re; I have high resed my dod source - Posted by: killpuppy (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 19:31
re: I have high resed my dod source

Why havent you created a release? I would volunteer to test it

 #10 - Hmmm... - Posted by: Mr_Dan (Member) on 03-21-2006 at 20:30
So are you sure this includes every texture from every addon and all the packs together? I wouldnt be suprised if it was missing a few textures and or files.

 #11 - Posted by: Snake_Apache (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 00:15
WOO! Thanks FakeFactory! I'm amazed at how much you go out of your way to help and please the community smile

 #12 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-22-2006 at 00:32
Wow, too bad I'm on vacation at the moment, I'll downlaod it when I get back. Great work FF. Take a break, man! Rock

 #13 - Posted by: ftn_memphis (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 02:10
is their a chance you add a little "bloom mod"?
that would be awesome. maybe you can contact someone at garrysmod for that?!

thx. looks very good. playing hl2 again... and again... and again LoL

#14 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 02:59
@#14: He's been looking for a coder for a long time.

If he'll find one that is good, cinematic mod will come with bloom shaders, parallax-mapping and other new effects.

 #15 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-22-2006 at 03:28
HL2 already has bloom. Look in the options menu. God, how many times do I have to say this? Roll Eyes (sarcastic) Unless ur talking about bloom that's BETTER than the bloom we've already got, then that would rock.

A hires CSS pack would NOT work. I bet only 1/4 of the WORLD be able to run it at a good framerate. I certainly couldn't, not with my 2GB of RAM. stick out tongue

Fakefactory: Are u ever going to reveal what your'e planning for HL2 if/when u find a coder? I'm just curious.

 #16 - blood - Posted by: 16FireAway16 (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 04:35
can you make high-res blood decals on ground and on body's?
the blood on the ground looks real eanoth.. the blood on body's looks horrible!

 #17 - Posted by: ftn_memphis (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 04:36
i mean something like the radi8 Bloom Mod. Or Garrys Bloom...

 #18 - Posted by: Ton80 (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 07:02
Q: I'm completly lost. What packs are needed to get the latest full
version?
A: To be up-to-date, just install the full pack of the CinematicMod
v2.20 or
Hirespack v2.20 and update the installation with
Addon2, Addon3.1 Addon3.2, Addon 3.21, Addon 3.22
(or just get the massive Fullpack v. 2.32)

That came from the latest hotfix readme so that should answer any "What the heck do I need to download" questions. IN OTHER WORDS if you d/l this file you have everything up until he releases something new.

#19 - Posted by: TheVoodoo (Member) on 03-22-2006 at 07:54
@ FAKEFACTORY: German: There is a small translation error in German sprachsync in the play, which the developers made. In the scene, where gordon, alyx and you are imprisoned dad and breen with Dr. in the citadel speak, and Mossman Gordon released and afterwards Breen with the manipulator harm arranges, sits Eli and Mossman at the soil and lead a short dialogue. As Alyx says it is added soetwas like "Dad we longs itself again" and Eli drauf "never" the set of "Dad this is emergency A goodby" wrongly translated... Perhaps you can change also times, that would be mad

##~~ Post translated using Google, so it might not be perfect. I just couldn't be bothered translating it myself. stick out tongue Anyway, speak in ENGLISH or don't speak at all. ~~## - THGhost.

Really bad on this end and other end has just a slight amount of change due to the bevel edge disappearing.

All dumpsters do this. You should be able to see the difference in alignment.

Ton80: Someone had the same problem in the last update I think. I dunno what it is.

#30 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 03-23-2006 at 11:44
It replaces EVERYTHING!!!!!!!! Even Add-On 3.22 Hotfix

#31 - Posted by: TheVoodoo (Member) on 03-24-2006 at 02:58
For anyone having installation problems, read the README!

Installation:
-------------

1. Unzip the archive to your harddisk.

2. Open the unziped archive and copy the "FAKEFACTORY_Cinematic"
and the "fakefactory_cinematic_german"
(inside "1. MOD Directory"wink folder to your <path to
SteamApps>/SourceMods/
folder and overwrite all previous files..

##~~ Btw, you don't HAVE to put it in the SourceMods folder, you can run it just fine in your Steam account folder. ~~## - THGhost.

 #32 - @ Fakefactory - Posted by: Lethal_NFS (Member) on 03-24-2006 at 09:38

 #36 - a suggestion - Posted by: Ton80 (Member) on 03-25-2006 at 04:00
To Fakefactory:
I think you should try out for the Black Mesa Source team if you haven't already. They are looking for texture artists/skinners according to the latest interview with them posted on March 20th. Come on, you have one heck of a portfolio right here with this file.

 #37 - I'm Spoiled Now - Posted by: moonracer1313 (Member) on 03-25-2006 at 11:33
FF you are the bomb! I'm so used to how awesome HL2 looks with your textures I'm afraid Aftermath is going to look horrible when it first comes out.

#38 - Posted by: NessD (Member) on 03-25-2006 at 13:24
@Ton80

He actually is already a member of the staff wink

@#9 i have submited my higher res skins and props for dod to filefront but they havent replyed yet

it is avalible via this thread
http://forum.moddb.com/thread/15534/

there is a full version and 2 hotfixes it makes most of the dod props look better/ higher res

#40 - Posted by: Donatti (Member) on 03-26-2006 at 01:45
I love all these cinematic mods from fakefactory, but I think when you got the final release, you'd try to compile it a little more, because 1,2 GB is really a huge mod (It's more than HL2).

#41 - Posted by: TKAzA (Member) on 03-26-2006 at 03:07
@#14 my mod has parralax mapping and it takes time and alot of testing per texture for it to work.

also im not sure how it would work on textures this high res
in any point its a job that many woulnt undertake putting parralax mapping in hl2
also the build of hl2 you guys play wont support it youl get see through walls!

 #42 - Question on blood - Posted by: DemonWolf95 (Member) on 03-27-2006 at 13:05
This is, in my opinion, one of the best mods ever for hl2; it's amazing FF.

I have a question about the blood though. Is it suppose to look like this?

http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/3282/d3c170800004nn.jpg

 #43 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-27-2006 at 23:32
#43: Yes, its ultra-realistic in my opinion. stick out tongue

#44 - Posted by: raawwr (Member) on 03-28-2006 at 09:20
Yeah the blood rocks in my opinion stick out tongue

 #45 - @TKAzA - Posted by: NessD (Member) on 03-28-2006 at 09:49
You can send your file to me (nessdanlen@googlemail.com), I'll do my best to bring it online, Skyrid3r's often a bit busy. So just send it =)

(Everyone can, as I am a fileposter big grin )

Edit: No longer staff do not send your files to her !! . . Prolix

 #46 - @NessD - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-29-2006 at 02:18

 #47 - Posted by: starwars3162 (Member) on 03-30-2006 at 00:34
hey FF, great job with everything, and i would love to know where you got the music from....^_^

i know some of it is from movies, i think i heard a lil from Pearl Harbor, and a couple other movies, but can you tell us where they are from...i would like to know...and im sure many others do also...=D

great job again

 #48 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-30-2006 at 02:28
God, I thought FF composed the music himself 'cos he's such a good skinner! Lol! eek!

 #49 - Can't download. - Posted by: the_grim (Member) on 03-30-2006 at 09:12
I can't download it. frown My browser stops the download when the transfer speed is too slow, and whenever I try to click "resume", for some reason the download starts over again, overwriting the already transferred data and then stops at 31kB claiming to be finished. I don't know what to do; my patience is running out after third time of starting the download only to see it fail after having transferred 400 megs. frown

Isn't it possible to split the huge download to smaller archives, like 100 megs or so? I'm really looking forward to downloading and playing this mod, but currently I can't.

 #50 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-31-2006 at 02:25
#50: Just download v.2.20 and the 2 hotfixes.

 #51 - Sorted. - Posted by: the_grim (Member) on 03-31-2006 at 03:47
Well, I found a workaround. I just made a backup copy of the incomplete file whenever the download stopped, and then when the resumed file overwrote itself, I paused the transfer, copied the backup copy back over the resumed file, and then resumed again... It seemed to work! smile

A pain in the butt, but now it's finally finished! Gonna install now and see if I have to get some more RAM...

 #52 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-31-2006 at 04:01
the_grim: Ok, cool. Good job. I need some more RAM too, 1GB just isn't enough... How much RAM do you have?

 #53 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 03-31-2006 at 05:54
I just bought 2 gigabyte dual ram.. because this mod is getting wilder and wilder Rock

@ FF: Can you post some teaser screens on something we can look forward to or tell something about a forthcoming addon.

#54 - The milk cartons are Finnish - Posted by: the_grim (Member) on 03-31-2006 at 06:21
OK, tested for a while, and I have to say that the mod rocks! Too bad that on my system the loading times almost take longer than the levels between them, and the stuttering makes fighting scenes really difficult... But it looks damn nice. smile

I am a Finn, so it was naturally quite surprising to actually find Finnish milk cartons in the mod. Those light-blue and white colored cartons with the cow on the front are an actual Finnish design! (It's fat-free milk, btw.) I have to agree they fit quite well in the eastern-Europe setting of the game, but I hope FakeFactory doesn't think Finland is a former part of the Soviet Union... wink I noticed most of the posters on the walls seem to be in Czech, so maybe he thought that milk carton was too.

 #55 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 03-31-2006 at 10:46
#55: Lol, another helping of the "FakeFactory Charm". wink

#56 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-01-2006 at 03:02
If you look closely you will find many little easter eggs. Hires is great.

 #57 - @ FF Possible Forgotten Texture - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 08:01
I see you have done the elevator panels, i don't know if this is forgotten one or just a bug or something.
So i took a shot >>> http://www.home.no/djbase123/elevatorpanel.jpg
The point where it is, is just after you meet alyx for the first time.

Anyway... Looking forward to you next addon smile

#58 - When Cinematic Mod Meets Smod Mod - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 09:23
I would just like to show you people 3 screens i took today..

In 2 month time i have mixed the cinematic mod with another mod called smod.. NO GAME WILL BEAT THIS IN A LONG TIME!!

The best thing is when you go in bullettime and the cinematic music is playing, that allmost makes me cry everytime.

#58: Yeah that is pretty wierd. Why aren't the 2 panels the same?

#59: Wow, those look amazing. Would you mind sharing a link to this "Smod"? And please don't send me a link to a japanese website 'cos I got that before and I couldn't understand a word it said.

#60 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 09:28
No he has not forgotten the texture. The Problem is that the whole elevator must be textured with one texture-file. He cannot increase the resolution anymore.

This texture looks so shabby. I would appreciate a rework of this one:

 #61 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-02-2006 at 09:37
Langenscheiss: I know, that texture's been annoying me for ages.

 #62 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 09:59
@ Langenscheiss

Maybe it's a hard texture to do when ol that garbage is on it confused

#63 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 12:15
No the garbage is just an overlay.
But i am sure this is a hard one and therefore we need good skinners. Just like FakeFactory.

 #64 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 13:14
Your welcome smile

Langenscheiss... I'm a little afraid here you said that FF was working on black source in another post (whatever that is) does that mean that FF don't work on the cinematic anymore ?

#65 - Posted by: FAKEFACTORY (Member) on 04-02-2006 at 13:25
@ DjBase2006

Still work on CM 3.0 wink
Hope to get it out close to or after the Aftermath release

 #66 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-02-2006 at 14:44
DjBase2006: Could you post a link to Smod so I can get it? Don't worry, I won't report you as advertising. big grin

FF: CM 3.0!? Will that include one of those high poly Alyx's you mentioned a little while back?

http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7836/sexyalyx0og.jpg
http://img485.imageshack.us/img485/6742/alyx0ms.jpg

I look forward to it! Rock

 #68 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-03-2006 at 02:16
DjBase2006: Thanx. Two Thumbs Up! So I don't need Smod36a_diff? Also, what does Smod actually do? Make the bullet time and explosions more realistic or something like that? And, where do I put? In the ValveSteamSteamApps<Username>Halflife2hl2 folder?

#69 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-03-2006 at 03:44
Just copy the smod-folder into Sourcemods . Then you can copy materials, sounds and models from cinematic mod into the smod-folder et voila , you have a combination of smod and cinematic mod.

Then you must edit the config file. You have some config files which include some parametres for a low end, mid end, or high end rig etc. Just copy the parametres you want into the main config file "config, cfg" and play.

 #70 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-03-2006 at 04:49
Langenscheiss: You don't HAVE to put it in SourceMods do you? 'Cos the Cinematic Mod's not in there on my PC. I've put the Cinematic Mod in my username folder and it works fine...

 #71 - #59 - Posted by: 16FireAway16 (Member) on 04-03-2006 at 04:58
my comp alone can hardly handle this mode.
if you would pud two mods in one then you would need a very good computer..
so all the low ends won't be able to do this.

 #72 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-03-2006 at 06:10
Langenscheiss said it all.. that's exactly how i did it too smile

Then you can make smod like you want too in the cgf folder.. i personaly prefere the hl2 normal blood gore and so on.

#73 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-03-2006 at 06:29
@72: Well if it works and don't have anything against it :-) . The rest has to be done as explained.

 #74 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-04-2006 at 04:20
Langenscheiss: Ok, thanx pal. But I haven't actually got this mod yet. I've downloaded it sure, but I haven't got it working yet because I need more RAM! I mean it now, I tried it a few weeks ago and I simply couldn't play it. Lol. 1GB of RAM just isn't enough I guess. Once I get more RAM I'll install this mod and try it with Smod.

PS. What does Smod actually do? I've heard that it makes the bullet time and explosion effects more realistic, is that it?

 #75 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-04-2006 at 04:52
@ THGhost

Yes that's right... but that is not the only thing, it also give the single player new life with more enemies (combines) new wepons and much much more.

 #76 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-04-2006 at 05:56
@ DjBase2006

Ok, sounds cool. I'll get it once I have more RAM.

 #77 - Posted by: the_grim (Member) on 04-04-2006 at 08:39
@FakeFactory: Am I allowed to use some of the textures and other features contained in this pack in a mod of my own? If I ever get the mod finished and IF I upload it anywhere, I will of course give you proper credit for the textures. Thanks.

 #78 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-04-2006 at 08:49
@ the_grim

Yes, as long as you give him FULL credit for the textures you can use them for your own work. Also, if you use the bumpmaps don't forget to give credit to Ogg, not FF.

#79 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-04-2006 at 08:50
@THGhost : Don't know what your problem is. I have 1Gig and it works very good. I must admit that there a few situations where the framerate is quite low but actually even with Smod it remains playable. I even have 16xAF and 6xAA activated. Without any optimizations of course (i use ATI Tray Tools).

 #80 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-04-2006 at 09:12
Langenscheiss: Well I do have other addons and mods installed, so that might be it. All PCs are different I guess.

#81 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-04-2006 at 15:16
Yes, but the difference is only dependent on the components. If you posess 1 gig RAM and have a mother board which is capable of interacting with this RAM with an appropriate speed (400DDR low latency) it should be as fast as my PC if you have a graphics board with 256MB RAM and the same Aperture Size restriction.

Could you please tell me what other addons you have installed?

 #82 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-05-2006 at 04:04
Langenscheiss: They're not much. It's probably just my mother board.

#83 - Posted by: Kevinclover (Member) on 04-05-2006 at 15:45
i just cant understand how to get the mod to work

##~~ Read the README ~~## - THGhost.

 #84 - Posted by: Cake21 (Member) on 04-09-2006 at 00:05
You know what texture's been bugging me a lot, one that I wish was redone? When you take the "elevator" up to the top of the citadel and see the city below. very low res. Prolly take awhile, but wondering if that was on the to-do list? Thanks FF, just let me know whichever

#85 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-09-2006 at 10:45
Btw it would be great if we get a small media update and some hints of what we might expect for the next Version of Cinematic Mod.

 #86 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-09-2006 at 12:17
@ Langenscheiss

I agree fully... The worst thing is, that it's gonna be a long wait this time before we see any of FF's new textures. Fake factory said that we first see somethng new a little before the release of episode 1or after.

So more than 1½ month again Cry

#87 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-09-2006 at 13:54
But the good thing is, it will be a major update and not just another hotfix. Anyway: SOME PICS PLEASE for us little beggars :-)

 #88 - #68 - Posted by: 16FireAway16 (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 03:10
yeah FF, what about what #68 posted?

#89 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 03:37
I received an email by FakeFactory and i know what he's planning for CM3.0 but since i don't have any permission i won't post anything stick out tongue . But i told him to post a little news so maybe you get to know what you could expect for the next version.

 #90 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 03:51
@ Langenscheiss

Wish i knew what you knew hehe smile
There must be a bunch of textures this time when the mod comes, i hope FF will tease us a little soon.

 #91 - Posted by: THGhost (Half-Life 2 Files Staff) on 04-14-2006 at 08:10
Langenscheiss: C'mon, surley u can let us know something? stick out tongue

16FireAway16: Plz, call me THGhost/Ghost. wink

#92 - Posted by: FAKEFACTORY (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 16:58
@Langenscheiss

You can post the mail.

#93 - Posted by: pinksteady (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 20:18
Always loved the hires mod, but 1.16Gb for a download? Bit excessive in my opinion. No way I'll be able to download it in one session, and do download managers work from the 3 download links on this page?

yeah 1.16Gb for a mod sucks! but I'm sure it's awesome once you've got it!

#94 - Posted by: Revrant (Member) on 04-14-2006 at 20:48
Really don't like this, hate what you did to Alyx, she's absolutely butchered, her face is nearly featureless, I support high definition releases like this but don't mess with their facial structure, Alyx sporting makeup, perfect eyebrows, and an all around Model-esque appearance? Blegh to the extreme, blegh to the fourth power even, I do rather like Barney and Kleiner though, the rest of the male-resistance work was also very good, can't say the same for the opposites though, doesn't run Too well on here, but it's gorgeous.

#95 - Posted by: Langenscheiss (Member) on 04-15-2006 at 06:10

Ok guys: FakeFactory Cinematic Mod Version 3.0 will likely feature beside everything we already have:

- Dynamic Sound System = Music adapts to gameplay
- Bloom Shader
- realistic Lens-Flare effects
- reworked hires textures (remaining scaling bugs will hopefully be fixed)

Sounds quite promising imo. Let's hope there will be a high-poly alyx.
The update will mainly focus on shaders and sound. Don't expect too much new hires content. But in the end i would be glad if all the bugs will be fixed. I sent FakeFactory a zip file with screenies of bugs I found in his mod. Maybe this will help him to make his work even better.

 #96 - Posted by: DjBase2006 (Member) on 04-16-2006 at 02:40
Thanks for the info Langenscheiss... Sounds more than okay to me cool

 #97 - Posted by: Ton80 (Member) on 04-17-2006 at 08:22
I agree with #96 here with Alyx. I know that Valve did a bang-up job on her face. But now think about the storyline. Do you really think that ANY woman is gonna look as good with all the makeup that is portrayed in the latest Alyx model when by the storyline there is NO makeup to be had!!!! The supporting troop female characters actually look more realistic with all their blemishes considering the above-mentioned fact of the story, which is, no supplies. Seriously, where in the world did Alyx get the makeup? The original makeup doesn't last THAT long. Now Alyx looks good from the head on down without the torn-up shirt. I seriously think that a woman is not gonna wear something like what was portrayed in the third selection of the creator pack that you did unless she JUST came out of a battle wit
